Hi, My ABS light comes on after I start my car, before I move off, I have changed the OVP relay and the 2 relays that sit under the black cover over the abs pump, has anyone got any further suggestions or areas to look at?

Try cleaning up the abs sensors on the front hubs.

And or checking to see if they're still attached.

I had that problem. Ian Walker fixed it - I think it was a kinked or broken connection somewhere in the battery area

Have you tried cleaning the fuse contacts? 124's suffer with corroding fuses and contacts. I had a similar problem on my 320e, cleaned up the fuse and contacts and problem solved.

Thanks for replies, which fuses to clean? don't think it's wheel sensors as the light would only come on when car starts to move?, have tried the brake light switch it's ok, could it be the pump or abs cpu? will check for kinked / loose wiring
Thanks

If you look inside the lid of the fuse box there should be a sheet saying which fuse does what. I would check them all anyway if I were you.

Re the brake light switch, even if it is still lighting up the brake lights there could still be a fault. Worth swapping it to make sure.

read somewhere that low battery voltage can cause abs light to come on, so I removed battery and recharged it, upon putting it back the alarm came on immediately and it is immobilised!, I have a small round key on the key ring, but I cannot find where to insert it, the alarm is a Viper 178, can anyone help as to the possible location of the keyhole?

Usually located on the back of the alarm siren itself. You may have to pull off a rubber sleeve to gain access to the key hole.

on my car the key slot for the alarm/immobiliser is on the underside of the dash. have a look up at the plastic just in front of the pedals, underside of the dash. these alarms were all dealer fitted (AFAIK) so locations will vary. it might also be by the siren and also around by the glovebox. hope this helps! My SL also has a similar key but i've yet to see the keyhole for this myself!! (if indeed it still exists)

If you have a little round key try looking in the glove box. 2 of my 124's have them there.

Hi have found the key hole, it was in the back of the horn as ez said,
I can now start my car, but the ABS light still comes back on a few seconds after going out when I start the car, I have checked everything that members have said but to no avail, would another abs ecu help?

Glad you got it started. As I said before, change the brake light switch first, it's the cheapest thing to eliminate....

Unfortuneatly I purchased a brake light switch, but found my old one has only 2 connectors, and the new one has 4, so I will have to take it back, this still leaves me with the abs light, on anybody got any other suggestions?

Further to this saga, today I changed the ABS ECU and the ABS pump unit, and guess what, the ABS light still comes on!, anyone know where to get an ABS circuit diagram?, or has anyone got some spare dynamite!

Hi rob any luck with the becker 2662 yet many thanks harry
