Guys, in a fit of something I still dont know, filled up the E270CDI with 70L petrol. I do have "Service Plus" contract but not sure if this will be covered in it? I have also driven about a mile until I realized the problem but the engine has not ceased up yet.

Question is:

Will any damage be covered by service plus?
What type of damage is possible? Any costs?

Could it be as simple as just drain the tank and replace with diesel?

Thanks,
Nim

Did you drive the car with petrol in it. If not, just have it drained and should be fine. If the car has been driven with petrol in it then not so good.

Doubt service + will cover. Didn't even know they still did it....

Damage will depend on how long the car was run with petrol in it.

Given that i am almost certain that Service Plus would not cover this, I would be sorely tempted to let RAC/AA or indie drain tank.

I believe (and stand to be corrected) that Diesel fuel includes lubrication for injectors and the like. I would not be keen to give Mercedes a way out in the future if you do need to claim on SP for fuel system at a later date.

You might be lucky and the engine has only used the fuel in the fuel lines - which was diesel.

Get it drained properly and put the expense down to experience.

You won't do it again - that's for sure.

PS: Nice mandarin.

I did this years ago. Drove 5 miles, saw client, came out wouldn't start. Drained it, no ill effects.

Did drive it for a mile and it was running when last turned off.. so still hopeful that not much damage would be caused. Getting it drained on Tuesday so fingers crossed

Still trying to find out if service plus might cover it as I am more worried about the part getting damaged rather than the drainage cost etc. RAC can drain and flush the system for £238.

Thanks for the consolation guys :) might be able to sleep tonight.

Indeed this wont happen again

PS - Off topic: Thanks for the mandarin ;) but thats about 2 yr old pic and had to give it away as it had finished all the pods in the system. Will surely get another one when I am ready again
