Mercedes C220 CDI
Good morning,
this is the first time i have ever joined a forum or posted a thread.
Thanks in advance for your patience and i hope someone can help.

I have just purchased a Mercedes C220 CDI 2009 (W204).
I'm really enjoying the car and the setup is great (bluetooth telephony, etc.).

However i would like to play music from my phone (iPhone 6), i'm not that bothered how (AUX, lightning, etc.).
There is no AUX connection or Media Interface in the glove box but the car does have a phone cradle in the centre console:

The phone cradle connection looks like this:

I purchased a Media Interface cable (AUX) thinking that i would be able to plug this into the phone cradle. Of course i was wrong.

Is there any way that i can connect my phone to this phone cradle (maybe with a phone cradle to Media Interface adaptor if such a thing exists) but just to play music. I am not bothered about charging or seeing the tracks on the display, etc.

By the way, i checked beneath the phone cradle and it is all wired in.
In the display there is also the option to choose AUX or enter the Media Interface menu.

Thanks again.
Richard

The phone system is completely independent of the media system.

Look in the main glovebox (not centre) for either a 3.5mm AUX input or a oblong media interface socket. It will be on the outer side of it near enough the front - I know you've looked, but many people miss the AUX input. I cant remember if it is there with teh Audio-50 as standard.

Having the phone cradle connector option is useful as it helps with phonebook transfer (you have to add an additional bluetooth adapter)

Cheers

Richard,
thank you very much for that.
I have looked in the glove box what feels like a thousand times and all i ever found was a slot where an AUX port should be from pics i'd seen on Google.

However this time, there it was, the Media Interface socket staring right at me.
Plugged my new cable in, attached the AUX cable and my phone, hey presto, my music playing through the speakers.

Thanks again and i promise to conduct a more thorough search next time.

Richard what is the Drive Kit Plus is that any good for the Threadstarter

You could get them for C class but thay only have E class left???

Drive Kit Plus for iPhone Genuine Mercedes Aceessory RRP £557 | eBay

I don't think they work with NTG4 COMAND, only with NTG4.5 systems.

Theres lots of versions, (different iPhones, different cars, COMAND vs Audio-20)

I think the OP's problem is that he has Audio-50..

I always feel slightly awkward telling people to go have another look in their glovebox, but you'd be amazed how many find this rather useful advice !

Now you should go and buy the iPhone 4 cable and the genuine Apple converter with the short lead, and you'll get proper control of the iPhone from the stereo.

Don't buy the Mercedes iPhone 6 lead - it won't work with Media Interface 1 which is what you have (only MI2)

Sorry Richard, just noticed your reply.
Thank you very much for the help.
I'm about to post another topic but you may be able to assist.
There's a couple of things:

1. My radio does not remember my settings for Traffic Announcements, and never has. Basically, i turn it off as i don't need them but every time i turn off the engine and then back on again, it resets to having TA on!!!

2. My Bluetooth is playing up. It worked fine when i purchased the car but now it does not remember my phone (iPhone 6). Again, every time i restart the car it has forgotten my phone and i have to go through the activation process again.

Cheers
Richard
