Hi, can anyone tell me what warning sign this is that showing on my cluster on my A180 A Class. I thought it could have been the rear break light above the back window but looks to be ok and work. Thanks guys

Rear hatch not closed properly?
Powered opener malfunction?
No information in your handbook?

Hi there, thanks for this reply. I’ve checked and the boot lid is closed properly and also the boot lid is opened manually by hand not with your key fog (is that what you meant). And had a look through manual and couldn’t see anything about that in there

regards

Sounds like you are getting an rear luggage door open graphic on the central multifunction display in the instrument cluster. This may be further complicated by the fact the car decides when to prioritise such warnings. It may for instance only come up once the car is moving at a certain speed but not while stationary or moving slowly and further complicated if the car has the easy pack tailgate see
owners manual-opening and closing-luggage compartment
The warning graphics displays are not well documented.
Chances are you have a dodgy microswitch somewhere- these FAUX WARNINGS seem to be quite common on a range of MB models -on saloons its boot open warnings.

We get something similar on my wife's Mini from time to time. Opening the rear hatch and giving it a good slam down sorts it out.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve pressed the open button of the boot whilst the boot is open and can hear the slight click noise it makes when opening. Around 3 weeks ago I had a new drivers door fitted (manufactured approved work shop). Since getting the car back My alarm siren keeps going off randomly through the night, but not every night . My little horn sound when locking the car has now stopped and so have the flashing hazards and the wing mirror lights when locking! And now this message (picture you’ve seen about the tailgate) it’s all come at once and didn’t have any problems what so ever before taking the car in for the door replacement

If I may ask why was the door replaced? Was any welding involved at any point? Sounds as if you are experiencing a range of electrical problems. Time perhaps to get the fault codes read?

Hi, the door was replaced as someone drove into the side of me. However it was only small impact, nothing major, but the company where I took the car too estimated for a new door. Will I have to go to a Mercedes Dealer to get this issue resolved? As I’ve heard just to put a vehicle on their diagnostics cost over £100!!!!

You have 3 choices
1 take the car to an MB dealer to put it on Star , but that sort of commits you to getting the car repaired there should any faults turn up.
2 Take to a local MB specialist with the same equipment but lower service rates- but be careful as many "german car specialists" are really routine service- "change oil and brake pads" operations and not geared up/experienced for more complex fault finding.
3. Buy your own aftermarket code reader and DIY fault find [ recent discussions here about this]

I would be inclined to go for a local second option following personal recommendation from someone who has used them for a similar electrical problem.

If this and the other faults have started since the door replacement, I'd suggest you contact the insurance company that authorised the repairs, far too coincidental for my liking.
