Hi

I have a Kia Rio Automatic 2011.
The car is making a knocking noise when turning right or going round a roundabout. I was told it was the cv joint, a garage has changed the cv joint and the noise is still there, he has given me a bill of £157 for changing the cv joint and labour, when asking him why the noise is still there he said he cannot locate where the noise is coming from and he wants me to drive the car till the noise gets relatively worse so he can pin point it?
Can anyone help as to what it might be?

I would go back to the roundabout where you heard the knocking noise, see if there was a sign post for the Kia forum and take the exit. Follow that road until you reach your final destination, which will hopefully be able to assist with your issue. :D:p:D

AFAIK the automatic box on these was CVT - if its not the drive shaft /cv joint it may be transmitted noise from somwhere else engine suspension mounts, bearings associated with the differential or front hub.
this may help
TRANSMISSION KIA RIO 12 (2011-2014) [Europe]
as suggested your best bet is a Kia FORUM- Be sure to put in your exact model, engine and transmission details when asking questions there. 2011 was a model changeover year.
