I am looking at 93 w124 300td estate. All seems ok, just usual wear and tear for age and milage except it appears to have a 'larger' fuel tank. This has resulted in having to loose the footwell/storage well below the load platform (has been plated and welded over) and changes to the exhaust configuration. It now has the rear box situated in a longitude rather than transverse position. Was this an option? Should I continue my search?. Any help, before I part with my dosh, would be much appreciated!

How much is the seller asking for the car? If the job's been done correctly it should'nt be a problem, unless you need a standard car?

Hi & welcome to the forum:thumb:

No, it wasn't an option. It sounds all very home made. OK, if done properly, but...

Thanks - no it does'nt bother me as long as its not impacting the cars value

Thanks - job done was abroad, spain I think so possibly could'nt get the correct tank easily?

WONDER IF IT WAS DONE TO ACCOMODATE AN LPG TANK which was subsequently removed? I KNOW ITS A DIESEL -- BUT WAS IT ALWAYS? Personally I would stay clear-WHAT OTHER MODS HAVE BEEN DONE -has it still got self leveling rear suspension for example.
