hi been checkin this site for a week now, some nice motors here guys, anyway i have just bought a clk 230 k cabriolet, and want to lower the car, i ordered pi but some one told me not to put them on the car..... so instead i am going to order eibach, i have a choice between eibach sportline or pro, i am not sure which ones to go for, i have seen shaz amgs car and it is really nice, but it hink it is too low for me as the roads r pretty ****ed up round here, i beleive he pro r a 30mm drop all round and the sportlines are 50mm at the front and 30mm at the rear, does anyone have any experience with spring and lowering cars, also i have ordered amg replica aero 2 18inch just so i dont sacrafice to much ride qaulity, give me hand guys appreciate the help, also what the hell r spring pads and whats the difference in no2 and no 4 pads, ???? my rims are 8 X 18 at the front and 9 x 19 at the back , they fit str8 on , ive seen a lot of people using spacers just wondering why thaat is? thanks in dvance and i willl b posting pics tomorrow wih my new wheels. shaz holla at me i need ur help pmed you please get back.

Spring pads are rubber cups that sit on top of the spring. No2 pad is shorter therefore rideheight is lower and harsher than a No4. A 30mm drop would be the best for overall compromise but don't forget to get a wheel alignment and I recomend a MB dealer to do it regardless of the cost.

Try not to get replica amg's as the quality is NEVER as good as the real thing. The replicas also have a tendency to bend on the inner edges.

We normally speak English on this site. If I want to speak in code I wll speak to t kids ko!

hi thanks for the replys, and thanks for the great welcome nigel, i appreciate it, no more code ok !!!! you should try and relax brotha, whats the point of posting a thread like that anyway? so has anyone tried h & r springs and could somebody post a picture with 18 inch wheels and a drop with either eibach or h&r , thanks guys and sorry to bust your butt nigel.

It wasn't busting my butt as you stated, Sorry for the abrupt reply but we are a friendly bunch, really, who allways try and assist when we can.
Sorry can't help with your springs

Hi tko187. Welcome to the forum. Loads of people here are always ready to offer advice and help where they can.

However, Nigel does have a valid point. It took me ages to decipher your post due to the use of texting abbreviations and the lack of punctuation (even though I understood all of the underlying technical content). A lot of us older people don't use SMS texting;)

If you want the maximum number of people to read your post (and maximise your chances of a reply) then it would be helpful to us for you to take a little more time in composing your initial questions. Otherwise, a lot of people will just give up reading your posts halfway through, and then you will miss out on their input.

Good luck with your questions.

Philip

Do a search, there's a 'sticky' thread on how to post pictures. Basically upload them to somewhere like Photobucket (free), then put a link to the image there in your post.

oh thanks for the quick reply btb appreciate it, im also having problems trying to open the picture links aswell, when i click on the link nothing happens??? anybody

This is how I put pictures on here:

Set up a photobucket.com account
Upload your pictures onto there
Copy and Paste the "IMG Code" of the picture into the post you are writing - it should appear as a picture once posted.

Not a clk obviously, but a c class lowered 1" at the rear and 1 1/4" at the front with 18" wheels, also used number 1 pads for an additional 5mm drop.

Springs used were Renntech which i imported from the states as it is beleived the best marriage for strock amg dampers.

HTH

Andy, and welcome to the forum

its best to upgrade the shocks to some sports ones at the same time as from experience fitting lowering springs with standard shocks produces a bouncy ride as the shocks are unable to control the stiffer springs

thanks andy for the picture, and to everyone else who replied, has anyone had any experience with pi springs they are a 40mm drop all round, im thinking of just putting these on as i have ordered them but just not picked them up as someone advised me not to use them, im confused?

I've not tried PI springs on a merc but a mate of mine put some on his Ford Puma it made the ride very harsh and crashy. (Probably due to fitting 17" wheels and lowering on stock shocks)

You could try some mercedes springs from a Avantgarde CLK but mercedes normally fit upgraded shocks as well to compliment the stiff springs.

tko.
just a thought, why not try either just using no1 pads or H&R 30mm drop and if you need more go down to no1 pads.
You can check what pads you have by looking in the wheelarch at the pad.
