Hi all, I've recently aquired a 1987 280E, previously owned in the family, she is pretty much immaculate, and has 70,000miles on the clock.
Need to put her in for an MOT next week, and then the dreaded tax and insurance (I am 21). I have just defected from Volvo 480turbo's btw :bannana: .

Well, that's a bit about me, now I am off to peruse the rest of the forum.

Ciao

Hi there,

Just used the VIN checker, it doesn't give my year, but the V5C states 09/01/1986,
So she was probably one of the very last to roll out of production at the end of 1985.

Vin checker is very good btw!

Welcome mate :)

I also had a Volvo before my 190e. Was your's interior rattling to bits aswell :D

Heh, well on my ES (non turbo) she was a solid as a rock.
though the turbo rattles lots, then at 230bhp and under a tonne of car, it seldom is the focus of ones attention. I had the use of a 190E in New Zealand, I liked it very much, had leather A/C cruise, the works. the model was Komplett II I think

230BHP   I take it this car was not standard!!!

Indeed not, I had it specially tuned, including a fully customised chip, High flow injectors etc. Peak boost is 26psi.

I am putting teh Volvo up for sale soon actually, as I'll need to feed the 2.8L beast.

I had the first Volvo 440 GLT sold locally. The whole car fell to pieces in the first six weeks. Two complete breakdowns, two sets electric mirrors, one set electric windows, steering rack, gearbox, axle alignment.
The warranty claims went on and on including broken drivers door and exhaust.
I got rid of it after 16 months and literally half the stuff on the car didn't work by then.

It sort of put me off Vlovos a bit.

I used to work for Volvo Twickenham, we used to tell people that the 'ES' stood for En Suite, because the front windscreens used to leak so much !!
