Hi everyone,

I am new here, I am looking at getting a C class next year at some point, so I am reserching the car and all of the pros and cons to come up with what I should go for (please be gentle) :)

Hello there Mitch and welcom to the forum.

I brought a C220d 2003 pre facelift model (just rolls off the tongue dont it), 6 months back.

You dont mention if you are looking at new or used. In the used market just make sure very bit of electrical kit works. My version is prone to sparky gremlins and if I had a second chance I would go for a E class instead.

That said it has got me through some tough long road trips in foul condtions so the drive cant be faulted.

Hi there, looking for a used C class, not a huge budget really unlike probably everyone else on here lol

It would be the most modern car I would have owned, older cars are usually better as there are less electrical issues lol

I am looking at a W203 C220 CDI, I have posted up in the general discussion section about it but what E class do you suggest? There is only the E300 isn't there?

Sounds like I am looking at getting the same car that you have just bought.

Have a look at the on-line Autotrader web site. I think its brill, you can compare lots of vehicles.

The face lift post '03 models have a revised dash and look miles better but you looking at 7 grand for a clean low mileage car '53 plate.

Budget 10 grand for the same age E class eg top spec E220 Cdi.

I don't have anything near that amount of cash, wouldn't spend that much on a car anyway lol I don't really mind about a pre facelift model as I will be swapping out the headlights anyway, seen a few good ones at about the £4k mark

Hello
Welcome to the forum

Welcome aboard Mitch. :thumb:

Incidentally, I know the guy who owns the reg: M1TCH. :)

OK then, with 4K from the trade you are looking at a Y to 52 plate with 120K miles as an average with full service history.

FSH a must. Dealer purchase would be better depending on how your vehicle know how is!

Yeah I saw something like this, which is spot on what I am looking for.

Thats a good looking example mate, make sure its got the FSH.

You might want to remove the link though asap as you have your home post code on it, and one of us might snaffle up your car! LOL

Thanks for your warm welcome everyone :) its nice to be welcomed into a nice friendly forum :)

Ok I will remove the links, but you see what I mean by the sort of can I am going for?

Too late! Saved it!!

Edit.

Only joking.

Yeah, its why I have joined this fab forum about 6 months ahead of time :) just looking for something thats pretty good, not looking for uber new, but just a nice car that won't cause too many issues (or at least issues I can't easily fix)

I will just save a bit more, I have read a few reviews on the car and its been quite bad and they are saying they are money pits, but I also get the impression that the reviewers wern't exactly driving slowly around lol its good to know that it can just be fuses etc
