1993 190E 2.0
Hi People

Well after accidentally buying a 1993 190E on ebay, I've become a massive fan of the older Mercedes cars. The 190E 2.0 is just wonderful. :)

So here's the thing, I've just bought a 1988 230CE. I haven't picked it up yet, so I don't know if it has a single or double row timing chain on the engine.

Is this a big scary issue? If so is it possible to convert to a twin row chain should the car be a single row model? :dk:

Learning as I go (isn't that how life is?)

I know where you are coming from,I accidentally bought a brand new grey import Smart on E bay years ago. Great fun.

Hi and welcome, from another 201 lover

I think the 230 CE had a similar change over date. Sometime around 1988 they went from simplex to duplex.

The 190 is such a sweet car, and it feels like it's built out of solid.
