I've just joined the forum today as i am hoping to join you all by owning a MB.

I'm currently looking for a C/E class 200 or 220 CDI (2000 onwards). I was just wondering if anybody could give me some advice when it comes to the mileage and whats acceptable for what age if possible.

Does anybody know of any places to browse for MB apart from autotrader

Thanks

Benjamin

Hi, I'd try and get a post 2004 E220cdi if you could. Much more comfy than a C class (which is still a nice motor). From BUILD DATE 2004 onwards body panels were galvanised and this is a major improvement. I saw an incredibly rust 01 REG C class and really a galvanised car is the main priority. In saying that we haven't seen too many rusty 211's (E class 2002-2009) but the post 2004 cars can have electical issues.

The best cars tend to lurk @ the dealers, and you can search approved used cars and set the various parameters to suit your needs + budget.

Try this

Don't rule out C270Cdis or E270cdi's either.

Welcome.

I'd also check

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
and
PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters

When looking for cars I'd be more focused on service history and high maintenance standards than mileage alone.

If you're after a good value car then look for one with >100k miles. As I feel the demand for these cars is reduced, but a well maintained example will still be capable of many more miles.

Personally I'd chose a higher mileage E-class 220 than a C-class as the ride and interior are clearly the next step up.
