Now I know not all of you approve of this mod given the legality issues, but for those of you that followed A210's initial thread I just thought update you all.
The set looked great on arrival, I went for 10K as opposed to 6K which I gather is the most popular choice given how well it resembles OEM Xenons. In all honesty I was a little worried that they would look too blue and even a little lilac, but thought I'd try my luck.
First of all I'd like to say a huge thanks to Howard (Mr Toad) who very kindly agreed to sort out my instillation. Howard recently fitted the exact same set of Xenons (6K) to his CLK430 and as my DIY skills are incredibly limited, he generously offered to help me out.
It was a slightly more complicated procedure than had been the case with Howards 430 givin the location of my air box in the engine bay, but none the less in about 30 mins Howard had sorted everything out, and the lights were up and running.
Initial impression is fantastic. A slightly more noticable blue tint than the 6K but not overwhelming, and the light output just cant be compared to previously when the standard bulbs were in place.
All in all I'm really chuffed and cant wait for this evening when the sun dies down and I can see the full effect of the changes. I recently changed my sidelights to crisp white H6W LED's with resistors inline so not to trigger any warning messages. Am sure this is going to look fantastic as an overall setup.
Must also say that Howard took me for a spin in the CLK430 so that I could see the difference between that and my CLK320. It's a gorgeous motor that some of you will remember because of its unique interior. The pics that went around of his car previously really dont do it justice. The deep red and black looks superb and suit the car down to the ground, and then when the key is turned and that V8 (with the CLK55 back box!!!) kicks in it's something else.
I was completely jealous and with the windows down and that deep, sporty roar in the back ground all of a sudden my 320 was a distant memory. It sounds just brilliant and I have no doubts that my next Merc will be a V8 !
I'll try and get some pics of the lights up this weekend for those of you that are interested.
Thanks again to Howard for all his help with the instilation and for being such a hospitable host this afternoon.
Ben
