Hello everyone,
I've bought a 108cdi Vito for a planned European tour / return trip to Montenegro next year. MY 52 has done more than 200k miles and the bearings are starting to rattle I think. All the signs are there, quiet when started but rattle increases when engine warmed up and most obvious when under load.
I can either change the bearings or the engine. If I opt for the latter, I've seen a 120 k Vito 108 dci a couple of years older for £500, how do I check if the engine is a straight swap? Do I check commission numbers for compatability.
Also if I wanted to put a 110 cdi lump in would this also work? I assume the manual gearbox and engine mapping unit would also have to be changed.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers, tom.
