Was looking at c63s as my next car but I saw the road tax is £1760 a year, can anyone confirm this?

It is very high for the first twelve months after your purchase then it falls back to somewhere around £550 per annum. The AA website explains it pretty well.

Yes that is the first year but usually that's included in the on the road price. Still higher for the next few (5) years as well but not quite that high (450) that is the same is for any car with a list price of over 40K.

first year rate yes then £450 a year

Here's my understanding, interpreting this table assuming the vehicles's list price is 40k+ and 228g/km CO2.

From this table: Vehicle tax rates

£1,760 first year, then, £140 per year + (If the list price is 40k+ then it's another £450 on top of that for the first five years (the first year that was £1,240 doesn't count into this).

So I guess it's £1,760, £590, £590, £590, £590, £590, £140, £140,
So the 7th year of ownership from new costs you £140/yr.

So it's the high fee, based on the emissions of the car in the first year.
Then it's £140/yr.
If the list price was 40k plus, then it's £140 + £450 for 5 years, then £140/yr ongoing.

Does that mean that my 2013 July c63 car £550 a year tax will be £140 a year beginning in July 2019?

After the first year it's £140 per year +£310 for the next 4 years.

The rate of vehicle tax is based on fuel type and CO2 emissions.

No, in a word. It will stay on the previous banding system, and likely will continue to increase year by year as it has already.

Not quite correct...there is a difference for cars registered before March 2006...the bit you didn't post.

I dont think you are correct as everything on here says other wise, plus I contacted the dvla and they confirmed if the car is 6 year old next year it applies like all the information in this thread it will go down £310

All cars below 40k are £140 and above are £460. The £1,760 is the first year and included in the list price

My SL500 is 3 years old and only £315.00 tax, bargain for a £105k car new, I was astounded when I found out it was less than my old 3.0l Jag XF!
