Loved this thread, would be great if you could update it it’s the stories you didn’t have time to post whilst driving down there
First one that springs to mind was the first leg, Glasgow to Dumfries.
Of course it's not simply a case of jumping on the motorway to Dumfries, we were doing the A77 down past Kilmarnock, the long way.
A lorry had blown over on the A77 as it was very windy and this put us behind schedule, chasing our tails on the first leg.
We got to the check point, had a quick hot drink and snack and got our route card stamped.
Was chatting to a chap who had a "support vehicle" with him fitted with an A frame style trailer.
He mentioned he didn't see the point of the route card and never does them.
I found it strange and stranger he was still there when we were setting off as we were all but at the back.
Later driving down the A1 when we had our power problems and were stuck to the inside lane who passes us, this chap with the car being towed!
When we eventually made it to Dover and asked the check-in agent if he had seen any cars he told us he had seen this car being towed onto the ferry so it seems the reason he doesn't bother with the check points and route cards is he doesn't bother driving the car!
Cheating at Golf sprung to mind as I'm sure he won't tell his "friends" back home he towed the car most of the way.
