Well I suppose it was going to happen to me one day:( .Got hit from behind this afternoon.Lucky for me it was in a courtesy car whilst mine was in for a service.I was stopped at a roundabout waiting for it to clear, when it did eventually clear I slowly moved off (very underpowered 230TE) when I got a helping hand from a peugoet 306,Abrutly pushed me into the roundabout about 5 feet.I stop to have a look around and seeing as im in the roundabout gesture the driver im pulling over a bit further up.I pull into a layby just the other side and get out to look for any damage, and wait for the other driver to follow me in.At which point I see the driver going past me and dissapear into the distance:mad:  .I did get a partial number plate but not enough I did see the driver as well and couldn't beleive that it was a young girl of about 20-25 years of age:rolleyes: There was no damage to my car I was in :bannana: so all the crunching sounds I heard must have been from her car:rock:  :D(Justice all be it small). But at the moment Im nursing a sore neck:( Damm you woman

Ditto!!

Glad there is no damage though - coz even though it's a courtesy car - you'd have still had a load of crap to deal with;)

You're NOT alright, you've got a sore neck. Get it looked at.

Shame it wasn't a 300...you could have backed up then :D

Get that neck checked...it will get worse as the shock/adrenaline wears off

Ditto, you may feel OK in a day or two, but it could come back to haunt you in months or years from now!:(

Did you contact the police yet? I know it might seem trivial but every instance needs to be reported.

Meanwhile everyone should be on the lookout for a broken down 306 with radiator problems! Actually forget that I've passed about 5 overheated peugeots today alone...

EDIT: reminds me of this: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=10796

Hopefully those guys had a really expensive aftermarket intercooler that exploded minutes after they drove into me. I guess I can hope... ;)

Are you sure there's no damage to the courtesy car? The bumper supports etc. are often designed to crumple (to absorb the impact), even though the plastic exterior may spring back.

I would definitely report it to the Police, she'd have done the same if it had been your pride and joy and she'd trashed the back end. As you genuinely have a sore neck they should treat it quite seriously ... road traffic accident with personal injury. We once had a postie ride his pushbike into the back of our car while it was empty and parked outside the house. Because he cut his hand (only a tiny nick) we had to go down to the station and make statements etc.

You are legally required to report it in person at a Police Station asap and in any case within 24 hours (because of the injury and not just you involved).

Quite possible that she has reported it (with perhaps a different spin on events) and the Cops will come looking for you....

Report it this evening (if she has, you'll get her details and she will get prosecuted for failing to stop).

Report it.

Report it.

Report it

(In person, can't do it by phone).

And get well.

My friend at work left her new Peugeot 206cc outside her house the other day (Red, too- No accounting for taste) and came back to find the whole os rear wing caved in and a big dent in the door. Needless to say, they hadn't stopped... She was remarkably calm about it, I would have been absolutely livid. Bastards, all of them.

Report it!!

Thanks everyone:D I Haven't long got back from work,Im back on shift now over the weekend.I didnt bother reporting it to the police.I really didnt think it would be worth while as no witnesses or damage to prove I was hit.I did tell the guy who loaned me the car just in case and he isn't bothered at all(so long as I can pay his bill for the service I just had)Are there any police stations open late anymore I could do it later or I might be able to get the wife to do it during the day, then I could pop down when Im not at work to give a statement?

sorry to hear of your problems - very glad you came out relatively OK

(and Toni's right - report it - you never know she may and then you'll be in trouble too if you haven't- sorry for the nagging)

Im thinking now it is probably best to report it after hearing what everyone is saying, I hope they wont mind if its over 24 hrs as I doubt that they will be open over the weekend.Still got an iffy neck, dont fancy my chaces down A&E this weekend either.I shall see how it goes this weekend.

You can ring the local non-emergency number and raise the initial report, and then fill out the rest of the details later in person at a more convenient time.

Might be worth doing, as at least then you've reported it, even if it takes a few days to complete the formalities

The law requires you report it in person within 24 hours - ie can not be your wife and can not be done over the phone.
