Golf has never really interested me, but my father has been playing for the last 35 years, he wins the odd trophy, so he cannot be that bad at the game.

Today at his golf club he got a hole in one, this is not his first, its actually his fourth, not bad considering he's 81 next month.

Hope Im as active at his age

Good for him, I am still waiting for my first.

My mum's been palying for 50-odd years, and she's never done it, so good on him.

the first time I ever played, I was accused of abusing the rules :(

I was told a gimme was less than four feet, and wasn't counted.

So I got a hole in two.

...

 tell him good one from me as the saying doesnt go you can teach a dog new tricks:D :D regards jon

good for him - i've been playing for just over a year and nearly got one last thursday - just hope i am still that active at that age

Did he have an expensive bar bill? ;)

Well done though from me - 4 times! What's the odds on that then?...

About £20, to restock the club bar with a bottle of Whiskey.

Odds of scoreing a hole in one for a amateur are about 12,500 to 1. I wonder what it would be for a 80 year old.

Congratulations to him and long may he continue playing.

I got one at mini-golf once, I got some lovely fade though the clown's mouth and sneaked under the sails of the windmill.

Good for him; especially at over 80.
It took me 10 years of golfing to get one; it took my wife 3 weeks!
Hope I can still play at that age.

You used to be able to get hole in one insurance in Lloyds to cover just this eventuality....however....as it's his fourth, I'm not sure he'd be quoted:D

Well done anyway!

No such thing as a "gimme". Its something dreamed up by weekend golfers who cant putt well.
Every touch counts.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

But hes only gone and done it again. Third hole this morning. :)

So at 83 its his fifth hole in one.:thumb:

I've eagled a par 3 in my time, but just the once.

Not likely to repeat it any time soon either, as I don't seem able to hit the proverbial donkey's asre with a shovel at the minute!

Tell him well done from me! :thumb: :bannana:

A 'gimme' still counts as a stroke, by the way. :D

Closest I have got was about 12" away on a par 3 so his record is fantastic. Come on the Oldies!

He's clearly a bandit golfer! Good on him, even for getting out there!

This isn't right, if they concede putts in the Ryder Cup and other matchplay events why is there no such thing?

Thanks for all the kind comments, I have passed them on to him.

The local newspaper are doing an article about his 'hole in one' golfing exploits.

So anyone in the North East look out for his mention in the Evening Chronicle.
