With nearly 6 days left on the auction I would slow down a bit !

Dont bid again until there is a bout 1 hr left on the auction - it takes some planning but things can be had much cheaper.
Set a ceiling for what you want to pay - say £50, I would now not bid at all until about 1 hr before - with say £38 - then with 1 min or less to go bid the whole £50, if someone tops your earlier bid with say a £41 - you will get an automatic £42 - right up to £50 - and with less than a minute to go - you will normally win.

Cheers

Mark

does it or doesn't it, like thats ever bothered me - LOL make it fit.

I personally do not think that there is enough clearance below where the W202 bonnet ornament is located to install that, but if you can make it fit it would be very cool.

I am sure I have seen something similar on TV before.

I was responding to a question posed by another Mercedes owner "Where can I buy a rectractable bonnet badge?" That's what these forums are for; to help each other out.

If you think you can keep items on ebay a secret, then you will have to think again, I had found that item myself, and so had Koolvin. I can't help wondering why you posted here if want it so much anyway.

Chill out & get real.

And what's this all about, please translate.

Angry, shocked, shocked, angry, confused.

It is true that if nobody asked and nobody answered, then forums like this would be useless.

It is also true that EBAY is an auction. Highest bidder wins. That's That.

I can understand the dissapointment of this, but keep it friendly guys.

Don't forget that just because we may have a "trust" between the members who regularly post here, anyone can view the site as a guest. Being honest I personally favour Benzsport and since it's launch, this site, but I still occaisionally (very) I do look at the others that we probably all know. Although there is some member overlap, I would feel no loyalty to a member on a forum who I don't "know".

last night the price was like 40 quid and now its like 65!!!!!!

I can only echo what Graham said... but keep it exclusive!!!

ive re-opened this topic...

FCUK ME MATE U WANTED IT BAAAAAAAAAAAAD

he he he, it certainly had me on the edge of my seat at the end.

The other chap was franticly adding bid increments to try to outbid me but he ran out of time.

My justification is that these were around 500 Guilders new at the time which works out to what I got it for today.

ill have to come and touch it when you get it !

Waiting till the end usually works - but only if you give yourself enough ceiling.

One solitary bid right at the end can normally be outbid - but if you bid the absolute max you want to pay - then you can only lose to someone who wants it worse than you As you said - he was bidding frantically at the end - but your last bid was high enough to win it!

Guess how I learned this valuable lesson?

So what was your bid as a matter of interest ?

Mark

I cant tell you that, I'd have to kill you!

I have been thinking how best to rig the badge up and I recon the best solution will be to have a go at linking it to the central locking so it will pop up and down with the remote

Anyone got a better idea?

I reckon thats about spot on

Thats what I thought of - when I first saw it

Well I got my hands on the retractable star and set about fitting it today.

It turns out that to fit it, you have to cut a slit in the grill and shave about an inch off a section of the bonnet (hidden by the grill). Although daunting at first, it wasnt too hard to do but I was getting impatient waiting for the paint to dry afterwards so I could get on and finish the job.

Anyway, with this done, the star went on smoothly and I plummed it in to the central locking pump so it now goes up and down using the remote. So not only is my badge safe from vandals but it is also a #### sight easier to see if I have remembered to lock the car.

I went down to a local Benz dealer prior to fitting it coz I needed some more of the vacuum piping and I had virtualy every member of staff come over to take a look. Only one chap had ever seen one before and he said that was around ten years ago.

Well chuffed
