Horn doesn't sound when locking car

Got my last problem sorted out and now this has popped up. When I lock the car on the remote the lights flash and the horn sounds, or at least it did. Now the horn doesn't sound although the lights flash and the doors lock. The horn itself is working fine, it just no longer sounds when locking the car. Does anyone know if there is a separate fuse or something that could be the problem here? I've checked through the diagrams of the fuse boxes but can't see anything that would relate to this. Any ideas?

Is it the horn that beeps or the alarm siren? Maybe your problem is with the alarm rather than the horn?

It's in the vehicle settings somewhere. I turned it on once and found it quite irritating!

+1
If you want the annoying parp of the horn everytime you lock the car it can be turned back on in the convenience settings in the cluster.

Hate that function. My van does it when I leave one of the doors open by mistake when locking, that’s more of a clever function than it sounding just when you lock it

Just had a C300 courtesy car for 3 days and the horn sounded when locking, glad to get my own back today and I can lock it in silence!

With both my CLS & SL it’s a non intrusive beep from the alarm sounder when locking.
Never heard the horn at any time but maybe it’s because the doors are always closed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have a look through the settings. I like it because it means I know the doors have locked without looking back to see if the indicators are flashing. Doesn't bother the neighbours as i'm never coming home late at night!

Nope, the only way to know the doors are locked is to try the handles. Everything else is guesswork.

The replacement alarm siren on the W211,219,230 and others from that era has a soft beep on locking.
My later W212 sounded the horn until I switched it off in the convenience function.

It does appear to depend on the model, and age of the siren whether you get a soft beep or annoying horn toot.

The sound of the locks doing their job isn’t enough?

How far away from the car are you walking away before you press the lock button? Boggling

Just wanted to say thanks. That was the problem, it had been disabled in settings. I can only assume that the short circuit I suffered had something to do with it. I'll go out around midnight and test it so the neighbours know it's back up and running! Thanks again folks.

It’s mad Friday, I’d wait until about 6am and make sure your give it plenty of tries.

When my car locks, the door mirrors fold in, that's my visual cue that the car is actually locked.
