Hi,My '51 plate C class W203 has a single CD slot built into the dash. When the CD has played and ejected it is RED hot and too hot to touch.
Does anybody else experience this, is it safe to continue to use, can it be rectified?

Many thanks

I think this has cropped up before but not sure if a resolution was found.

If you are only using pre-recorded (i.e. bought from a shop / 'originals') CDs, I would suspect the lense could be dusty and might need a clean from an optical disc cleaner - it might be struggling to read causing it more work than it otherwise would.

Ensure your discs are free from scratches and clean as well - wipe from centre out perpendicular to the tracks with a non-abrasive cloth.

If they are CD-RWs, and you don't get the issue with pre-recorded, try recording them at a much slower speed.

My previous Saab did this but never had a problem. The CDs were still comfortable to touch though - if they are hotter than that - you might have an issue!

I too have noticed the CD's get very warm / hot..
The Comand unit I had retro fitted was only 6 weeks old and so I doubt its tired / dirty / wrecked..
The CD's play fine and there doesnt seem to be any ill effects from being slowly cooked.. (No I said "Cooked") :D
