Remember when I marshalled the Candy Tunnel Run through the streets of London a few months ago? Well, I've just received this email from them:bannana: :bannana:

Dear Graeme,
You are invited to bring your Mercedes AMG to the Candy Run stand at the Fast Fest show on Sunday 1st July 2007 (No charge) 2 free tickets are allocated to you. The Show is at Santa Pod Raceway.

As part of the Candy Run display, you are also welcome to drive your Supercar up the drag strip and gain a timed distance and MPH of your run for Free.

We have a maximum of 25 car places on our stand and less than 10 places remaining. To date, we have Porsche;s Lamborghini’s, Corvette's, Ferrari’s, Mustangs and a few unusual Supercars.

Fast Fest is a brand new show organised by Fast Car and Redline Magazine. They bill the show as the Ultimate Petrolhead Experience.

Some wish to arrive Saturday night, if you wish to do so, we be pleased to post you your tickets so you can gain entry on Saturday.

Most are meeting at Greenwich Dome London, early Sunday morning and driving to Santa Pod in convoy. We are also meeting others on the Motorway services 20 miles from Santa Pod.

Wasn't too bad there either. A little rain late morning, then was fine.
Only problem was a 25mph head wind on the strip.
Dieselman came with me and took some photos of me on the strip
They'll be posted in due course.

I'll post some more pics and vids tomorrow.
Was a long night last night and a long day today, so am going to bed

Not too bad considering the wind, me forgetting to take the sprintbooster off the CLK and filling up with normal unleaded.
Gives me something to aim for next time

I think I beat a DB9 that belonged to the man who runs the bit I went with.
I'll have to check times.
He was faster over the line, but think I got him on time

Oh, I'll get in quick before Dieselman does, I got beaten by a Vauxhall Nova on my 2nd run He was running nitrous though. Slow off the line, but he caught me up towards the end

Before you look at the times please remember Grav has half of his worldly belongings in the boot of the car, including two bass bins, two angle grinders, torch, boots, jackets, 5 litre can of dodgy liquid, ten cans of lager, bottle of wine....This is like the generation game, though can't remember a cuddly toy...

Anyone fancy a ride in a tandem dragster? This shot was about 0.5 seconds after the lights changed. I clicked the shutter as soon as the green light lit on the Christmas tree. The dragster was nearly going out of the frame.

One guy that had a ride said just the burn out was like being in a jet aeroplane on takeoff.

I was originally standing directly behind it to get a good engine shot, but the heat and bits it was chucking out soon made me move..

This was on a par with the BMW 375 and had a sign on the back saying "All throttle no bottle". I think it means no NOS. Cubes man cubes..

What we haven't got is pictures of the bikes.

I was gonna say 14.2 is way to slow for the e55 amg I think i could easily manage 13.6- 13.4 if i go there its worth a try, ive done the 0-60 runs and that was in 4.7-4.8secs in the e55 but never done a 1/4mile i'd love to go there one day...

That Bimmer was lively off the line. It ran 141mph in 10.8s. That's very fast for a normal engined car.
