Took the SL to my local garage today for the MOT, been using the same garage for over 15 years now and know them very well.

Car passed with flying colours:bannana: went and picked it up and drove back to my place of work a mile away. All was well, or so I thought:rolleyes:

I got out the car walked towards my office, turned around to glance at the car, as you do and something caught my eye.

I went over to have a closer look and to my horror the underside of the newly painted front bumper had been scraped on both sides! Gutted!

I only had it done a month ago at a cost of £200, there wasn't a mark on it!

Anyway, I took it back and sure enough, there was the culprit, the ramp, complete with remnants of black paint.

They have agreed to pay for the damage but Iv'e now got the hassle of sorting it out. Why they don't have someone guiding the car on to the ramps is beyond me, could have avoided all this agro and expense....

I need a beer......

its probably the flaps on the end of the ramp, as the ramp goes up, these flaps come up to stop the car rolling off the ramp... unfortunately most mercedes take up the whole ramp and these flaps WILL make contact with the bumper...

Whenever i put my SEC's on the ramp, i actually unbolt the flaps as the SEC is so low and long that there is no chance of not scraping the paint off!

we have this problem a lot...

I took a car of mine to a local exhaust place once and as I liked to get under the car as well for a poke around I hung around the workshop.

They stook a trolley jack under the rear diff and lifted the car to get a look. When they had finished they just let the jack drop at full speed. Bumper hit the jack's arm and cracked.

I immediately asked what they were playing at and even though I had seen them do it with my own eyes they denied it point blank.

Got the manager out who basically told me to prove it when they would all say it didn't happen!

I left p*ssed off and as I was a lot younger didn't really know what to do. I was also a lot poorer then so couldn't afford to sort it myself.

Luckily a bus hit my car while it was parked one day about 6 months later and the bus company paid for a whole new bumber :)

Not often you'll hear someone say that about their pride and joy, but I suppose it's all relative... :)

Indeed it is. Bumper wasn't that badly damaged from the bus, but when the body shop found out the bus company was footing the bill they asked me if I wanted a new bumper and I jumped at the chance. Got the rear half sprayed as well so other than the hassle, it worked out well for me :)
