How can anybody get it so wrong?

'My car got trashed and it’s a total write-off,” said Elaine Preedy, owner of the Citroën, who arrived back at the car park after walking her dog to find the scene of destruction.

“He completely lost control. Apparently the guy was parked at the opposite end of the car park, at the entrance. I don’t know what he was trying to do.

“I just said ‘Are you responsible for this?’ and he said ‘Yes, sorry’. I said that wasn’t really good enough but there was nothing else I could do, it’s done now.”

The man, who police say is 67 and from West Byfleet, then gave Mrs Preedy his insurance details. His own car had extensive damage to its front, side and rear.

Elaine Preedy's Citroen Berlingo was a write-off
Mrs Preedy added: “The window at the back of the car had been smashed in and the poor dog was in the back covered in glass.”

She sounds like a nice woman

Typical overstatement and over-reaction .... so the car got trashed , no one was hurt ...

She needs to check her story , one moment she returned after walking the dog to ind the car wrecked , the next , the dog was in the back 'covered in glass ' ....

So , she had another dog that she locked in the car while she walked the other dog ? or is she a drama queen ?

And as for ' I told him it wasn't good enough ' what does she want ? for him to commit hara-kari on the spot ? Jesus .....

She was talking about his car containing a glass coated dog I think.

It says he was a regular walker , not a regular dog walker .... :D

Maybe he just liked to go for a stroll ? :p

Anyway , she sounds like a drama queen so i'm sticking to my story !! ;)

To be fair the press reporter needs to check his story - she never said she had just returned from walking the dog, that bit's outside of the quotes.

Likewise "scene of destruction" is a press quote not hers.

It wasn't all bad if a Berlingo got trashed ;)

I know the car park, how anyone could 'lose control' in it is beyond me.

"Mr Rimmer said the tree that the motorist had driven into was so badly damaged, it would have to be removed by the society."
Oh, no...... None of you even care about that poor tree, it must be in agony!

I used to fly r/c planes on Horsell Common, and HCPS (who actually own the land) were a funny bunch. For years and years we tried to get their permission to cut down a few trees around the edge of our flying field - no joy. Then suddenly they realised that the silver birch was spreading like wildfire and in a few years time there would be no common left - it would be a forest! So they not only let us cut down as many trees as we wanted, they even provided equipment and manpower to help us.

Sorry to gatecrash the thread:

But Peterborough used to have an historic Norman Arch leading to the Cathedral
Hmm... That looks to be a bit of a c*ck-up, doesn't it? Peterborough cathedral is a fascinating place, BTW. It was the burial place of two Queens of England and there's even the original winding gear at the top of the main tower that was used to raise the stone on the 12th Century. The gardens are a wonderfully peaceful place to wander in or sit away from the bustle of a busy modern city.

When I lived in Peterborough my GP's surgery was in Minster Precincts. He was a real car nut too and during the summer he used to do his rounds in his 1930's Lagonda Sports which often used to be parked outside the surgery entrance. Happy days...

Dunno what everyone got so hot under the collar about personally - not like they were trashing MB's now was it? ;)

Ah , Sorry :o

What is it about VW drivers???  ;)
