Went out very early this morning, and after leaving my garage the windows and mirrors misted up due to the colder outside temperature, the windows cleared quite quickly but the mirrors stayed misty, they felt cold to the touch and I'm sure there is no heat to them, my old BMW cleared almost instantly and the mirrors were warm to touch. Is there a switch or something I need to do?
I have checked the spec and they are heated, but I can't find anything in the handbook.

Thanks Eddie:dk:

On a C for cheap class, you need to have the HRW switched on to operate the mirror heating.

I was somewhat shocked by this, not having had to press a button for ~20 years...

Blimey! how daft is that, Thanks matey! is it different on a E for economy class then?

E = Expensive
S = Super expensive.

No button pressing.

A retrograde step then on the newer C class? My 203 and most if not all other models the door mirror heater comes on with ambient temperature below 9-15 depending on model and YOM.

Can't imagine why MB would now make it a requirement to switch on the HRW.

I'm sure in the manual for my W204 it says they come on automatically below 15c...

Although when turned on, after a few minutes, especially if it's not raining, they are hot...

Did some research, they come on hot automatically below 15c or you can put them on manually by switching on the heated rear screen as Dieselman rightly said.
Thanks for all the input guys
