How do I clean deep stains on cloth back seats?

I've tried scrubbing with fairy washing-up liquid, Vanish stain remover and a couple of more off-beat ways of trying to get rid of these stains.

Anyone have any ideas or tips?

Thanks in advance.

Jees, they look rank.

Try a steam cleaner - I bought one fo rabout £50 and used it on my old Passat. But those seats were black.

Remove and replace ?

The more I look at that picture, the more I'm thinking that may be the only way.

I'm going to have a couple of hours at it in the morning and see how it looks.

Half formed idea alert...

I have cream coloured overmats in my current car, they were absolutely stinking when I collected it.

I laid them out on the drive, doused with water, sprinkled on plenty of the Missus' washing powder and blasted with the power washer.

Worked a treat. How you get the seat covers off is your problem !!

You might be on to something here.

If I can get the covers off somehow, I could put them in the washing machine a couple of times...

Worth a punt..

Just to point out that this isn't my car, it's an Audi A4 I took in part exchange yesterday.

Don't want you lot thinking I'm a scruffy bugger..

I think that the seat covers have to come off. I want to clean my car seats and have concluded that it is t he only way to be sure.

Prochem steam clear will get the stains out. Get a carpet cleaning firm local to you with truck mount steam cleaner. Much cheaper then replacing.

Yeah, I think a carpet cleaner or a dry cleaner can help you deal with the seat cover. I suggest you buy an alternate seat cover that can be removed to avoid dealing with the dilemma once again.

Not the OPs car so not likely to be an issue once it's cleaned, the car will no doubt be sold. I have the same issue with a Fiesta belonging to my girls, light coloured seats don't mix well with McDs and makeup. I will be borrowing a Vax carpet cleaner over the next couple of weeks and trying that. If that fails it's covers off and jet wash I suspect.

Sweatpea, I'm very interested to see how you resolve this one.

Not much likely to happen today, I'll be updating tomorrow....

A wet & dry vac would sort this out - helped out on a car yesterday where the seat were in worst condition that those in the pic, ingrained mud harsh

Took a few attempts but got them back nice, does take a few hours though.

Bleugh!

Imagine sitting on those on a hot day!

I had a some stains on my front seats, a local car valet charged £10 and used a steam cleaner - the seats were spotless within about 10 minutes.

Just to update this thread, here is the finished result, the seats were still a bit wet when I took this photo (hence the line)

To get the seats into the pictured state, it took;
6 attempts with the wet & dry vac
2 attempts with carpet stain remover
2 attempts with Vanish stain remover
2 final attempts with the wet & dry vac.

The car was sold on Saturday, but I can't resist commenting on how some people don't look after things- the car when I took it in part exchange was in a right state.
Even with all that scrubbing and hard work you could still catch a whiff of fags and whatever else they got up to in the car.

Sweetpea, excellent result. You clearly have a talent. Ever thought of becoming a detailer? As you know they charge mega money too! ;)

Haha that thought had crossed my mind when I finished cleaning the Audi as well! :D:D

Just need a semi-pornographic video with me pouring water on the bonnet and I'm away! :p
