Guys,

Does anyone know how to remove the black plastic fixing from the top mounting of the rear view mirror on a GLC?
As per attachment one, looks like some sort of spring but can’t work it out!

The 2nd attachment is image of stock mirror supplied.

Cheers

I can’t quite work out what you’ve got there. The triangular mount is usually attached to the glass, and a sixty degree twist of the mirror takes it off the mount, and the reverse to refit it

Thanks for the response. The black block has came away from top of the windscreen (it appears to be fixed by a screw) if I can separate this from the mirror mount I can in theory screw it back into the top of windscreen then re-attach the mirror.

Hope fully further images help

I have attached a close up of the black block attached to the top mount of mirror. I have circled what looks like 2 tabs. Di they release some how?

Insert a credit card at the front of the overhead control panel (between it and headliner), it will drop down allowing you to unplug the mirror - note where the gaffer tape is if your car has that holding the loom to the ceiling (anti rattle measure).
The way to remove a mirror when its attached to the car, is you use an open ended spanner (19mm or so, I have one with a L bend as that makes life easy) and rotate and it clips of the bit that is now stuck in your mirror. So put it in a vice and use a spanner.
