Hi Folks,:bannana:

I've been trying to find out how to remove the radio (head unit) form my e-class w211. managed fine on my c-class, but just cant figure this one. It's a 2003 model.

Did search the forum and the net but no joy.

Anyone done this before or be able to point me the right way?

Yip,
It's got a cc 20 radio cassett just now an I want to put command in. Just cant figure how to remove the old unit and dont want to break anything.

I'm told the cc20 unit has fibre optic connection at the back and it should work (except nav,tv etc. will get rest fitted later, just want the dvd player and radio on command).

Aren't both actually attached the same way? Anyway, if you know how to remove the gear stick bezel and the ash tray, you would find screws holding the CDC (if you have one, otherwise a storage bin), remove the CDC (detach wires, fibre included). The HU is secured by two screws that face up at the bottom/front of the unit. Unscrew as far as they go, then pull out the unit.

I can send it when you are ready, thats the works sheet

I will need an Email address thet you can edit out later

You should already have an AGW in the boot if you have the Casette head unit so it might all work. However, you wont have a NAV drive which you will need to get navigation. Further, it is most likely that your AGW will have a single tuner. This means that you cant use TMC when navigating. You will need to upgrade the AGW to a dual tuner type:(

Thanks guys, great help.:p

I think i can get the gaitor and ashtray out, same as my old c-class I guess, just pop it off. ope this comes out ok.The unit above the ashtray is a motorised storage tray with popup cover, hope it comes out ok.

Television, I'll try and get you an e-mail address through this forum, OH, just tried and I cant see how send private messages on this forum, so I'll keep checking in when you are on and post my e-mail here and remove, i hope, lol..

Have you disabled private mail from your profile or is it only available after a certain amount of posts? I assume it is just a profile issue?

easy Peasy, Just fitted it, 15 mins no probs...

There was 2 fibre optics at back though and an aux cable.

Wonder what the others were for?

:D :D :D :D

Just managed to fit an mp3/ipod 20gig connection to my command unit, no more changing CDs. It was fairly easy too. Run it through into the centre console.

See how inspiring you guy are, lol.;)
