hi richard, its a w203 kompressor, and its showing on the cluster that the right wing mirror bulb is not working. (but it is) so seems like there is a loose connection somewhere... it only appears when i unfold the mirrors....

thanks for your help

James

Hi

you need first to fold the mirrors into bodywork. Then looking into rear of mirror casing you should see a shiny clip, this need to be pushed to one side with flat head screwdriver. this will release the mirrior housing which should slide off towards rear of car (be careful when sliding off that glass is positioned correctly and also indicator has push in supply that needs to be disconnected). the indicator is attached with Torx screws. replace and reverse instructions to refit. when sliding back on you should hear a click when correctly positioned.

Good luck

thanks gatty :)

gatty, could you contact me to assist in fixing the indicator that has slipped out of the wing mirror housing please?

I think some one should write a "How to remove wing mirror cover" as it always comes up with new people, its quite common to several models.

When you do get the mirror cover off, chances are the small series resistor which is connected in the supply line to to lamp has gone short circuit,as you say the lamp is working. This is the resistor which monitors the current to the lamp and any change in resistance value gives the fault indication. replacement resistor complete with crimp connections is available from your dealer

Just find a narrow lane with a oncoming BMW and the problem will be solved.
