...stop the tailgate and interior lights coming on/staying on if I leave tailgate open ?

I think there's a setting in the lighting section of the settings for "interior lighting switch off delay" or something like that, might be worth trying.

Can you pull the plunger out to do this?

They won't come on during daylight and will automatically go off at night after approx 4min. of being on

Yeah mine go off after a while, there's a setting in the instrument menu for it.

Mine stay on....so best I check out instrument menu then
