Hi all, My 202 sunroof seal has a greeny/grey moss like stuff growing on it and I would like remove it without damaging the seal. Any ideas?

Have you tried soap and water? And lots of elbow grease?

Not sure what other substance are good enough but not detrimental.....

Autoglym do a caravan cleaner that's good on moss. Just double check the instructions to make sure it doesn't do nasty things to soft rubber. Worked a treat on our caravan though.

use a soft nailbrush too ;)

Surely must be same/similar thing? Make sure the rubbers nice and soft not hard or cracked to ensure a good seal. Silicone spray it afterwards?

A high pressure powerwasher (set on low) will blow it right off without hurting paint etc.

But your car may get wet inside?!

TBH I haven't looked at my sunroof rubber.... :o

Shouldn't.

It is, after all, designed to keep water out.

Oh sorry wrong moss. I used a little dab of turpentine and a wire sponge to sort mine out.
Mind not too much as it stinks. And watch out for the paintwork

I thought we meant when sunroof open?! Am I getting the wrong end of the stick? If so, I apologise.

Once cleaned off make sure you treat the area as has been suggested, but also regular car shampooing (is that a word?) Are you parking in an area that causes this growth?

Ask Pete Doherty  :D Very good

Moss is a natural nature product, A nature friendly and will not hurt the car is Vinegar 5 to 10% proof hard to buy in this country but it is Acetic acid diluted from its 100% state with water. Its also known as Ättika in Europe and is used for demossing anything outside, brush it on and hose it off, it will not harm plants or wildlife.

You can buy a side of Salmon put it in a plastic bag with dill and 12% Acetic Acid put it in the fridge and its ready to eat after 24 hours.

I use it to descale the kettle and remove the moss that grows in my V70R side lights.

Available from Chemist and Industrial finishers

yummy:o

Malcolm is usually reliable on these esoteric topics.
When I leave my boat long enough to grow spuds in the crud on the deck I use sugar soap which works a treat. Pressure washing can take the paint off! Beware!
Asda cream cleaner also works well on fibreglass.
If its a question of getting mildew stains out, oxalic acid is good, but requires the poisons register signing to obtain.

Sadly it is not possible to buy the Swedish Mustard to make the sauce in the UK, its unlike any other Mustard.

It's not something Ikea would sell is it? They do sell swedish food. Alternatively - Lidl/Aldi do themed offers - if they have a swedish affair - might have it then.

Ikea do sell the Swedish sill (herrings) several types.

Senapssill, that a mustard sauce sill
Löksil thats in a onion sauce
Inlaggsill thats a multi sauce
Normally all made by a firm called Abba

One UK company that makes and sells a Swedish sauce is "Coln Valley" Dill sauce, Tesco did sell it but no one knew what it was and they stopped selling it.

If Ikea do have the correct sauce for Gravad Lax (Salmon) its dark green/brown. it is Oil Ättika,Mustard and Dill.

Though Lydol have shops in sverige they do not sell Swedish food

I think we may have gone off the topic here :D

Whats this got to do with getting Moss off, does she not like Ikea or fish or have I just missed something?
