Any one had to remove the chrome trim from around the top of the windscreen on a SEC
. Is it bonded in or will it clip off .Also is there a risk of damageing the wind screen .Picked up a stone chip on the front of the roof need it painted

IIRC the central raised piece slides along to one side exposing the joint, so you can then lever out the trim fom one/both ends. Warning - it's tricky to put back. Is it not easier to put some plastic wedges underneath the rubber seal so you can get "behind" it? Either that or if you are using a decent bodyshop and paying good money they could remove and re-fit the screen? Proper job.

I just did this. The 'wings' on the A pillar first come off to fully expose the vertical chrome down the sides of the windscreen. To take the A pillar wings off there are four screws that hold them on. Hidden under a rubber flap which is between the wing an the vertical chrome. Also a plastic fastener at the very bottom. Once those are detached, gently persuade the vertical pieces of chrome to slide downwards. This releases the sides of the top pieces of chrome. You will have to be very careful not to bend them. They are clipped in to i think 3 clips per side. Those clips are held to the car by rivets. The rivets are easily broken after all this time so be careful.
The chrome is actually anodised aluminium, pretty bendy so persuade it to come free by wiggling gently and pulling slightly outward in the direction of the sides of the car.
New pieces are in the region of £80 a piece for the top bits at the mo.

Nice looking SEC by the way. Love the red.
