I find while enjoying my new toy in the rear garden it gets to that nifty little 155 mph speed limiter all too quick.

I know they can be removed, but how?

Mercedes?
Someone with a STAR machine?
Something i can remove/replace at home?

Any pointers in the right directions and rough prices on parts or labour would be excellent?

Thanks. :thumb:

A decent tuner will not only tune your car but also remove the limiter.

This is not something you can do, nor with a STAR machine.

Search in your area for a tuner or for a custom job you will need to travel.

Doesnt sound like too much of a hassle, but most tuners round my area offer the usual "extra mpg, extra power" tuning, mainly on diesels.

Mines a 500bhp Kompressor, would this require anything "specialist" or will one of these guys be able to do the same thing?

Any recommendations for a tuner in the Leeds/Bradford area or even the Yorkshire area?

W4sim, speak to Acid at MSL in birmingham, he can sort this out for you, he is a eurocharged dealer

Wow your garden is nearly as big as mine (M25) :p.

Please let us know how you get on. If you go for a tune get a before and after power run to see where your money went.

Custom tuning is really for cars that have loads of mods and will cater for very specific requirements.

The 155 limiter seems to be faulty on my car, already seen 161 on the GPS in my friends back garden.

Is it just me or does everyone with a fast Merc have a big garden?

Probably comes with the car i think!

Yeah, I think your right there.

But, depending on where you live determines the size of your garden! :p

Ok, a quick update.

Made a few queries over the weekend and this is what iv had back so far.

1. Mobileecu.com - Speed limiter removal only = £125

2. Premier Tuning - Remapped with +45bhp = £175 (hasnt said anything about speed limiter removal)

3. Acid at MSL, Birmingham - Remove speed limiter, 25bhp and 40nm = £295

What do you think people?
Have i found the right combo in number 2, even if he charges a little more for the speed limiter removal, or is he being a little optimistic with the power figure?

And should i really bother with a remap, as in what are the chances of being able to tell the difference of 25bhp when you already have 500.
