Folks,

I am trying to replace the carbon fibre door trim on the driver's door pillar on my W202. Ive removed the two screws that hold it in behind the door rubber but the thing is refusing to come off.

I didn't want to force it in case I damage something.

Anyone removed one of these before who can advise ?

many thanks

if its anything like the w211, wind the window down then you need to remove the outer strip at the bottom of the window, and the inner rubber near the pillar trim, then pull out the trim near where the screws were and its folded onto the door on the other side which slips out.

if its different to the w211 then someone will surely chime in :)

From what I remember when I changed mine, it also helps to lift the trim that runs along the bottom of the window opening, at the end where the door pillar is. Do it very carefully to avoid scratching the paint and lower the window glass first.

Use an old type wooden clothes peg to lever up the old trim

Thanks,

I know the trim you mean....the one that runs along the bottom of the window.......does it simply lift up or is it secured in ? I dont see anything securing it and again Im a bit wary of forcing it.

just lever it up gently with an old wooden clothes peg

I think there's an end cap that needs to come off first, then you can get into it to lever up.
