How does an Indi update the cars DSR

Its service time and i'm thinking about using an Indi specialist as there is approx £175 difference in cost between them and the main dealer.

I asked MB customer services how the Indi can update the Digital Service Record (DSR) and they said, go to the http://service-parts.mercedes-benz.com website, register, pay the fee and they can access the DSR database.

Has anyone used an Indi who's sucsessfuly done this? Have any of the Indi machanics on here used it?

If the Indi doesn't want to go this route (perhaps the fee is too big) has anyone provided details of a non main dealer service to MB directly to get the DSR updated?

If the Indi pays the STAR subscription, then he will be able to access live link with MB through his STAR machine.

This is my understanding, I'm sure someone will confirm this shortly.

We update the DSR simply by emailing our local dealer who we have a good working relationship with as we do loads of work for them, they then update for us. Not sure what the fee is but just find an Indie that works with the delaer then problem solved
