Hello guys right I'm a little confused about how NCB works, I have 2 years if NCB, but I want to insure a classic and keep my daily as it is, if I use my 2 years NCB with the classic the premium drops to £300, but without the 2 years NCB it's over £1000, but I want to know can I only use this 2 years NCB with one car with the classic or the daily not on both policies, also having a classic insurance would I still get 1 years NCB if all goes well for that year or would that not be added to my current 2 years NCB seeing it's a classic, all help appreciated, just new to this having 2 cars now so trying to see how it all works

You may be able to get a multi-car policy, in my experience each company applies their own interpretation to discounts etc.

Rather than try for quotes on-line try going to a local broker and talking through the options face to face, it sometimes pays dividends.

I tried some multi car policies but they work out more expensive than insuring them separately,

You can only use your existing single NCB on one policy, so use it on whichever saves you the most money. If you have two policies, for every year you do not make a claim on any policy you will gain another year's NCB on that policy; so one claim-free year on both policies will give you another year's NCB on both.

Come renewal time, there should be no reason why you cannot switch the NCBs around, if necessary, so that your higher NCB can be applied to the more expensive new policy to save you the most money - but check what percentage saving each company allows for a given NCB; it may not be the same.

It's worth using comparison websites to see if you can insure your higher-performance car with a mainstream insurer, though. When I bought my E55k, supposedly chipped (it isn't, and I have the MSL dyno sheet to prove it; seller BS) to 520 bhp, I needed insurance quickly, so to avoid hassle with a modified car I went to Adrian Flux; no hassle, but over £500 fully-comp, protected ten-year bonus. I had assumed that my then insurer on the standard E55 (Churchill) would not cover it. Silly me... When I rang to cancel the old policy, and asked about cover for the modified car, they said "Not a problem; £320". I won't be renewing with Adrian Flux.

Most classic policies I've seen neither allow you to accrue no-claims nor give discount based on no-claims.
I run one modern car on a conventional ncb type policy and 2 older cars each on separate classic policies. I use a broker and get a discount because I use them for all three, no need for a multi-car policy.

I did do an admiral multi-car once but the price wasn't that amazing and it caused two cars to come into sync so I always get insurance renewal bills at the same time now!

To get some classic quotes I usually contact:-
- Peter Best
- Adrian Flux
- Hagerty
- footman james

Recently using Peter Best, the service is good, they are small and you speak to the same people. Also like their Hiscox product (price isn't the only consideration but they are usually competitive).

In the internet age, the old fashioned broker is often overlooked in favour of dealing direct but they can be a good place to do multiple business as per post #5; I have used Af and FJ with good results.

I had a good result from Lancaster but going to still shop around

Try Classic Line Insurance they specialise in classic cars and don't do NCB.
I have my R107 with them for £198 p.a full comp 3k per year garaged for 45k agreed value. Half the price of my previous insurer.

I have had my 450sl insured via Lancaster since 2010. last year i renewed online for £108 . Just had renewal notice for £176 , including £70 "admin fee".

Tried classic line insurance must say they are very good had emails off them and it's like emailing a proper person non of these people that type of the script well as mentioned they don't do NCB so they gave me a quote for £330, which is good as they include breakdown cover even tho I'm with the AA, but it nice to know what they offer, with Lancaster they only gave me a good price with my NCB, which meant more payout on my daily so far classic line insurance seem to be looking good, does anyone else have a good classic insurance company, there is a comparison site for classic insurance so will try that also

Then there's the Aviva Drive App... ;)

Insure the classic with your existing NCB, then tell the insurer of your daily that you have been driving a company car, they will accept a letter on headed paper stating that you have driven a company car for a given amount of years accident free and give you NCB credit for the same (best not to kick the **** out of it tho). Obviously I would never recommend that anyone should tell a white lie to get cheaper insurance, oh no!.

Correct... because in the event of a serious accident, the insurer will scrutinise the policy before paying out, looking for a good reason as to why the policy might not be valid. And they could be very pleased to find that the insured person lied...

Kwik Fit now do classic offered me £97 for the W208 but max mileage was 3k. Which was no good as it's now my daily driver for a while. In the end kept the admiral multi car policy it was a whole £126. On that suppose that just shows what an old git I am [emoji3]

Carole Nash is another company worth trying . I went to them after buying a car on a bank holiday and they were the only company open where I could talk to a real person on the phone .

They started out as specialist motorcycle insurers , but now do classic car , performance and mainstream insurance , as well as bikes .

I have always found them friendly and helpful , normally their prices are good too .

Glad you wouldn't contemplate such a thing………...

Fraud Act 2006

Fraud by false representation (Section 2)

The defendant:

made a false representation
dishonestly
knowing that the representation was or might be untrue or misleading
with intent to make a gain for himself or another, to cause loss to another or to expose another to risk of loss.
The offence is entirely focused on the conduct of the defendant.

Tried carol Nash the thing is I'm only 23 so they said they can't insure me as I'm not 25 so it's bit awkward I tried multi car and it was more expensive like over £2000, il have a look at kwik fit and others but the one with classic line seem good as I can use the 2 years NCB on the daily which will hopefully bring down the monthly instalments, and the £330 for the classic can be paid out right,
