How kick button works?

Hello,I have cl500 2000.Can someone explain me stupid how that kick button works after the pedal? So I push pedal to the end till I click it,and then what? Its like sport button near gearbox in newer mercedes or it does something else? So lets say if I start from 0,pushing pedal to the end is not efficient,so I guess I push to get some speed and at 2nd gear I hit the pedal so it downshifts and gives more boost? Nah this sounds like an accident with wheels spinning lol. Do you have to push it and can hold it and it will boost after some time or you have to push it just to enable the mode and then drive the car how you want it?

I felt car is kind a sluggish and sometimes it jumps a bit funnier. So I guess its little sluggish without that button, and after that button it reacts faster.I usually just push the pedal to the end and thats all lol...Not the best driver, live and learn I guess.

So how to use that button if I wanna start from 0,hit it driving before start, and then stop and start,or after button reacts it will spin the wheels because button is pressed and I should gooo without releasing it and it will be active,or I need to press, release it a bit,and then press again and goo?

What about drift,so you get 20 speed, press button and then when its activated I can try drift with wheels spinning faster? Help the nob.

It basically provides the maximum power available by shifting down into a lower gear. It will continue to do this and shift through the gears taking the car to higher RPM’s to provide more power until you ease off the throttle.

Cl500 should not feel sluggish imo. Check that the car has been serviced and get the car on a diagnostic machine to see if it has any codes.

When were the spark plugs last changed?

Is this the one you crashed last time you floored the throttle pedal?

As mentioned, a (well designed) kickdown mechanism will give you the fastest acceleration possible for that particular car.

Automatic transmissions are not AI-intensive Cray computers, they are simple devices. If you want max acceleration, keep the pedal mashed, if not, ease-up a bit and go slower.

Simple, like the logic behind them.

I'm not a big fan of this feature. In mine it seems to downchange instantly pushing the engine to nearly max rpm but out of its peak torque sweet spot. So the engine make a lot of noise but doesnt give me what I asked for, max acceleration. I find flooring it to max without hitting this kick down feature gives better results for a quicker turn of speed.

Unlesss I am doing it wrong??

The engine only goes to (near) max revs if you keep the throttle mashed open...exactly the same as a manual gearbox does...

not quite, it drops the cogs 1 or 2, the instant I kick down so instantly hitting near max revs and then proceeds to change up and back on the torque curve, If I push to the floor and not kick down it either holds the gear I have and goes nicely through the torque curve or if it needs to drops only one cog to hit the peak power at lower revs.

I can of course overide this with the flappy paddles and simple click down a cog when wishing to get on the power which is mainly what I do now.
To be honest its a minor issue that doesnt bother me.

YEAH LOL! I almost got it fixed tho, came back home weeks ago.It was sitting in my backyard with carter broken and I was like, engine will go bad through the winter and all climate changes,it did it sit for like 3 months, carter was non existent. Bumpers hella crazy, non amg bumper cost like 2/4x times a bumper for my w212,w212 amg bumper cost less than cl500 non amg bumper LOL.Then need replace couple airbags.Needed 1 wheel so I bought 4 of them from germany lol looked all across europe on google, price was low tho since 1 wheel was damaged, second one a lot of scratches outside and 2 good, but I need only 1 so who cares,I have 3 for spare for next time LOL...Not...Some idiotic stuff is happening with electricity tho, that small back window closes sometimes from 1 time sometimes from 20th time, and roof window down button doesnt work either, just click click but you do close it by playing with it since there is button slide front and back so it go down anyway,I have no idea how could a freaking roof button got damaged, and since it does close with other buttons I dont think mechanism is damaged.Very slight engine shaking, but maybe it needs a bit more driving to get all air out of system, maybe something more. And Gearbox,I dont remember now since I didnt drive for like 5 months but when you drop into D it gives some sort of weird noise while on it,and it knocks into D hard feels like it drops for you to floor it immediately GO! But while on D it does have some sort of weird harder noise,I did come back home with it so no extreme damages felt, maybe just not enough gearbox oil since you need to drive it a bit, maybe its lacking some oil or maybe something wrong, but as I said, nothing felt too extreme bad driving back. Its good no police came over because it would have be written off and then definitely not worth fixing with all expertise costs, and I would have gotten nice check for all oil leaked from car on the grass + driving like retard, not like I knew...lesson learned..Maybe a little bit too much problems for this......But ahhhhhhhhhh,99% humanity, drinks, smokes and spend their half life wasting with wrong gf/wife.May my mercedes be fixed and riding for some more time,it was not born toyota prius. Will be a toy to learn drift, wouldnt have bought a new one for the fix costs anyway, unless magically everything else gonna break.

They do when they look like this!

Nah im speaking before crash,it had to do with that button, you clearly feel the boost when it downshifts.I was riding little front and back today to give car some warmth, span the wheel holes on all my grass lol and I was gently going front and back just so discs dont rust.Lets just say I watch too many e63 youtube and lamborghini videos :D
Spark plugs important for performance? If car starts, runs fine,I guess no need to look into sparks?
