I am currently at mb guildford and went over to congratulate a gent collecting his new eqe, blue with a light grey interior.

He ordered the car in june 23 and could have taken delivery dec 23 but opted for the grey leather, he collected it today - a 12 month wait just for the interior colour

It did look nice and it's such a shame that 99% of new cars have dark bland interiors.

On a used car its a gamble....I got lucky and found a grey one....but would have had black if Id not found one when I did.....on a new car?....Id wait as long as it took to get a light interior but you have to draw the line somewhere and after a year plus I might be looking at another brand that offers a similar product!!!
Mine....

My guess is that it's partially a function of the shift over the last few years from build-to-order being a bigger part of the brand's business to a more build to stock model, with dealers shifting what they have in their own showrooms or what's pre-built and in the supply pipe somewhere in preference to supplying a bespoke colour combination. So the dealer network and local importer decides on the colour options they're prepared to stock, and as they have little or no imagination, they plump for black interiors.

The other factor is the model: The EQE hasn't been a great success sales-wise in the UK so getting a build slot for a specific customer configuration would be a s-l-o-w process.

I thought a four month wait for my C350 was too long. But it was worth it for the light grey interior.

Still today, if you look at MB's UK offerings only a limited number of models are available with light interiors.

Still missing my E63 with Crystal Grey interior.
As above, I want a light interior for my next car, but if everything else about it fits the bill I'd take another black interior if necessary.
You can wait forever for the perfect combinations of colour and options.

Surely slow sales would have gaps to fit a specific spec in ??? Or are MB just gits ????

I’m another fm of light interiors and bold coloured interiors.

There's a lot of us in this thread, but evidently we're still in the minority, otherwise black wouldn't be so dominant. 🤷‍♂️

For me it was non-negotiable - after driving cars with black interiors for so long, I decided enough was enough, but it certainly took longer to find my W221 and my S212 as a result.

It’s all just another cost reduction exercise.
