I'm charging a flat battery from my W211 with a 12v-20amp charger. How long should I leave it on charge for?

Thanks, will give it a go overnight...

yes, is there any way to adjust your charger to reduce the ampage? My C-tek trickle charges at 3.5amps, or 7amps for the new one which I had to get for the SLK

If that charger is pumping in 20 amps minimum then 10 to 12 hrs is going to damage the battery:(

As I understood it, you cannot PUMP in 20amps? The battery will only take what is required, up to the max available. Once it is nearly charged, it may only be pulling 3 amps?

Most modern chargers will reduce the amperage output as the amps build up in the battery, sort of resistance. In the good old days, you took the plugs out of the battery and looked to see if the water was boiling :D

I'd read the instructions for the charger to understand if it is regulated to a safe voltage or has an indicator for charge complete. If not monitor the voltage at the battery terminals and when it reaches 14.5 volts stop charging.
