Hi

I have a 2003 , 1.8 petrol w203,with 37000 on clock , the oil I use when I change is 0/40w , do I stick with this oil for the rest of its life or do I move onto a thicker oil say 5/30w (both synthetic) as mates say its a oil (0/40w) for the early part of a engines life ?

Cheers

I don't think there is a decisive answer, MB dealers used both 0w-40 and 5w-30 on my car when it was new. I would probably go with 5w-30.

At that mileage run 0W-40 synthetic Mobil 1 being one of the better:thumb:

They say to change every 10000 miles or 2 years with the above oil in, then it is cost effective.

Hi

Thanks for replies . With what people say I will stick to the 0/40w , plus you can get 5 litres of Mobil one at Costco for under £30 inc vat ! Bargain :-)
