Car
Volvo c70 T5 / BMW 316Sport
Here's an idea for a bit of an unusual thread. I was thinking the other day about all of the different cars I'd driven since getting my license in '96.*

So far I can think of:

Vauxhall Corsa
VW Golf
VW Polo
Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
Vauhall Vectra
Ford Fiesta
Ford Focus
Ford Escort
Ford Transit
LDV Luton Van
Replica AC Cobra
Subaru Impreza
Subaru Legacy
BMW M5*
BMW 3 Series
Mini Cooper S GP
Mitsubishi Shogun
Landrover Defender
Landrover Freelander*
Volvo V70
Rover 400
Citroën C5
Citroën Xsara
Chevrolet Impala
Mercedes A Class
Mercedes B Class
Mercedes Vito
Renault Megane
Renault Clio
Nissan Micra*
VW Passat
Honda Civic
Honda Jazz
Fiat Punto
Fiat Multipla
Vauxhall Cavalier*
Volvo 440
Ford KA
MG-F
Austin Montego

So not too bad but plenty of time yet to get some more exotics on the list.

How many are TWOC's? ;)

Blimey I couldn't even start to think.

I used to hire cars on a weekly basis which means I've driven most mainstream models betweem 1997 and 2003.

Blooming '00s but my top 10 could include:
Mclaren SLR
Ferrari 550
Maserati Quattroporte
Maserati Gransport
Maserati Coupe (151mph at Millbrook!)
Peter's now Ozzies C43 AMG
Gravs modified E55 AMG
Maffs CL 55AMG
Ferrari 328
Ferrari Mondial
C55 AMG :)
S 65 AMG (600 bhp)
Lancia Thema 8.32 (Ferrari engineed)
All my rusty old Alfa's!!

How many are TWOC's? ;)

How did you know I was from Liverpool ;-)

Amazingly, they were all with the owner's consent and insured.

Those which either my Mrs or I have owned are:

Fiat Punto (Not my greatest buy)
Honda Civic x2 New Shape
Subaru Impreza (last of the proper saloon shape)
Mini Cooper S x2 (one of which was the JCW GP Works edition)
Landrover Freelander
Mercedes B Class

I think of all of them the Mini GP is the one that had the greatest impression on me, the Impreza was quicker but not by much and it had a ferocious appetite for everything - fuel, tyres, brakes you name it... The GP was just properly rapid and very capable.

The most fun was the Rolls Royce - as old as me but because of it's length it could powerslide all day and remain totally predictable. Belonged to my dad and I even had L Plates on it on one driving lesson around Sefton Park. Like driving a boat.

Of all of

Wow! That's a tough one! Had my licence for 30 years and love cars, have belonged to various classic car clubs and owned over a hundred cars and had a mate who's father owned an exotic car dealer :).

So, most Alfas, Lancias, couple of Ferraris, all 70s Lamborghinis, various Jags including my own XJ40 and XJS, Bentley Arnage, Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Corvettes, a Monteverdi, Mustang Mach 1, all SL except 190 and gullwings!, S class, E class, C class, SLK, CLK, Porsche 911s, Cayman, Boxster, 912, 356, Speedster, 944, 928, BMW Z1, Z3, Z4, my own 730d, 535d, M5, M3, Audi A4, A6, A5, various FIATs, Citroens, Saabs, Fords, Vauxhalls, Opels, Toyotas, Mazdas etc!

So, not a bad run in 30 years or so! :)

ps- and in Russia I've driven Ladas, Volgas and UAzs, plus my own Nissan! :D

and yet one more BMW 520d

Countless other vehicles driven due to work!

Blimey. At 21, I should have driven a lot less than I have, but I was on a trade policy pretty much as soon as I had a licence.

Highlights:

Jaguar E-Type SIII V12
Jaguar X308
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Porsche 928GTS

That's about all in the exotic arena, but I've had a lot of fun in a lot of run of the mill stuff most 21 year olds don't get anywhere near, most of my mates driving 1.0 or 1.2 superminis, whereas I've always had big cars. Except for the C2. That was a one off.

None I am willing to admit to apart from the w202 (although the Audi 80 2.0 Estate wasn't too bad...)

Gawd, hundreds, since 1972...

Start with US cars.

Trans Am, ugh.
Rambler Ambassador classic 770, again ugh*
Pontiac Chieftan straight 8*
Nash Metropolitan (is that actually US, it was RHD?)
Mustang Mach 1 351ci*
Mustang GT 302ci*
Mustang V6, ugh.
Mercury Cougar 351
Lincoln Town Car
Chevrolet pick up, of some sort.
Jeep Cherokee 4.0*

Japanese (not that many)

Mazda 323*
Colt Pick-up*
Datsun Cherry
Datsun 1600 auto.
Datsun240Z* Very rusty(!)

French
Citroen DS21
Citroen AX*
Peugeot 106(?) Small and lots of gearboxes*
2CV, wonderful car* I actually miss it for its charm.

Italian
Alfasud
Ferrari Dino
Fiat 500 (the original)
Fiat 126*
Fiat124 Coupe* Oops, broke that one...
Lancia Beta
Maserati Bora
Iso Revolta

At this point I give up. There is only one car which really stands out head and shoulders above the rest, and I was only a passenger for a couple of hours aged 11, and gave me a lifelong interest in cars.

A neighbour worked for Ford Australia, and had been seconded to Ford UK to work on the GT40 Le Mans project. He gave me a drive in one from Maidenhead up and down the M4 at 150mph plus in those speed limit free days. Terrifying, irresponsible and totally memorable. I was infected by the V8 sound.

If he is alive still, thanks Mr Bailey.

I've always thought about writing this list, but have never got round to it.
