Hi guys,

I would like to do a coolant change on my CLK (209, 03) and E class (211, 05)

How many litres does each system take please? So I can purchase coolant from MB :)

The Clk is a M112 3.2l v6 petrol
The E is an OM648 3.2l il6 diesel.

Thanks very much,
Abs

Cant say for sure but my 211 E220 cdi took a tad over 10 litres so I guess the six would take more. You can get genuine MB stuff on ebay quite cheap (about £30 for 5 litres if I recall ) and mix to 50/50. Then you're sure to get the right stuff. I had issues with the drain plug weeping on refilling but I'm assured some ptfe tape sorts ok. You may want to research this yourself. Have fun!

Thanks very much buddy, did you use distilled or deionised water to mix to a 50/50 ratio?

I have found said bottle on ebay, 5L from Mercedes @ £35. I wish they sold premixed, I would gladly pay more to save the hassle!

I used deionised.

Don't the instructions on the back say to dilute 1:1 with tap water?

I heard that the deionised water will search for ions and remove them from the metals in your cooling system. Is this not the case?
That is correct. That's why soft tap water is the best thing to use; it's not deionised, but it's not mineral water either.

"Deionised" covers quite a wide range of things. - Something like ISO 3696 grade 3 is not as deionised as grade 1 (and that's not as deionised as ASTM D-1193 type I, such as "Milli-Q").

Bump, still haven’t been able to find out how many litres it needs! ;)

Havnt got an owners manual :(

I can only tell you that a CLK350 takes 7.1L of MB 325.0 according to the manual. - I'd guess that a 320 is similar.
(A CLK63 takes almost 11L evidently; that seems like a lot of coolant to me.)

Gavs site shows 12L for my e320cdi!

Put your reg in here

Products : Comma Oil & Chemicals Ltd.

Should tell you :)

Gav, as mine already has the red stuff in it, shall I just order the same red stuff for after it’s drained? Don’t really want to faff around with flushing it and don’t want to risk it becoming jelly lol

MB will do a 5L red bottle for £27 from ‘euro-commericials’ on eBay and another seller has a 1.5L bottle for £10.

Comma is cheaper though at £21 for 5L but it’s not red I don’t think

Shame your not closer, We sell the Red Comma for £18 inc vat.

Part number: SLA5L bud

Cheers bud, it says 325.3 though? Will that be compatible?

Looking on here it only says 325.0 325.6 326.0 or 326.6 is compatible? Cheers bud :)

Well my OCD got the better of my :(

6L of 325.6 (red) coolant ordered from Mercedes for £40.37.

Will collect 6L deionised water from Tesco, at 40p per litre. :) (Sold in 2.5L bottles so will have 1.5L spare for screenwash)
