I wondered if anyone has more current faults with their cars than me ? Please list things that should be replaced and are important like light bulbs lights seat falling out etc. sensors also. Important bits really.

The booster heater is intermittant
the passenger window wiring from the drivers door
the rear vent window doesn't open
the rear vent switch is smashed in
the auto gearbox shaft is falling out
The n/s camber is off
the drivers door switch for central locking is intermittant
oil is leaking from the head someplace.
the turbo oil seals are badly gone
three injectors need attention
n/s cv boot to be replaced
both drive shafts need replacing due to worn splines and cvj's
thermostat needs replacing ( at least i have that bit)

Not you win, I only have (touch wood.....)

Apart from a mirror that someone broke, none else

Passenger side vanity mirror bulb very dim but still works - Just

That's it at the moment. Only just run in though at 297K :)

Probably be wishing I hadn't posted this, its in for a service tomorrow.

Oh and I think one of the Zenons is not so bright as it should be. Do they gradually lose their intensity? Anyone else experienced this ?

You are sat in a car in a scrapyard aren't you? :D

2006 car with 37k miles....

Rusty wheel bolts replaced by MB under warranty at 2 years old

Front Passenger Occupancy Sensor went faulty at around 30k and replaced by Olly during the last service

'Summer Opening' and 'Convenience Closing' feature - the IR function of the keyfob - is very temperamental. Seems like they all do that though.

Errr... that's about it.

Outrageous.
What do Mercedes think they are doing with bulbs that last less than 300k?

I have Xenons on my CLK - ten years old, and I think that they have lost some of the intensity. They really dont seem any brighter than normal headlights.

Oh, and problems with the cars.

SLK - Nothing. Passed its MOT on Saturday again (fifth time I think - never failed). Waiting for me to do an oil/filter/plug change. Lots of rust.

CLK - Nothing. Drives like a dream. I love this car. A couple of rust patches.

You can replace the HID bulbs....

With a hefty touch of wood and tongue in cheek, I feel somewhat let down by my car, an (old) ML320, supposedly the least reliable of Mercedes offerings. In six months since I bought it I have had -

1. Driver's door window intermittent - plug into window motor in door was loose, tightened connections myself, all perfect. Cost - door panel clips £6
2. N/S/R Door lock 'machine gunning'. Replaced that myself at the weekend. Cost - £65
3. Battery (original, 10+ years old) failed and had to be replaced. Cost - £80

Considering I bought it on the cheap side for the year and mileage, I had ringfenced funds for the inevitable failures, but so far I'm winning! I still need to sort out the fuel gauge which is unreliable but as I run on LPG it's not that important. Oh and the back door is showing the beginnings of rust in the handle area, a known fault, must fix that one when time permits.

My 2009 E coupe:

Passenger seatbelt hander, broken (goes to hand seat belt but one part has snapped off and as such doesn't work properly)
Push button to activate hander - doesn't work (possibly as a result of fault above)
NAV 50 - rubbish (but I guess works, technically)
Parking sensors go haywire when heavy rain
Mercedes Benz badge on bonnet has paint flaking off

Need a few silly bits for mine:

Fuel Sender Unit (i've got one just needs fitting)
Charcoal Filter (again have one, just needs fitting)
Passenger Window Motor is on it's way out
Couple of Speedo Bulbs required
Need the plastic 'Head Rest' adjustment knobs for the electric door panels
Also require the plastic knob that covers the S/W bit on the gear lever
Rusty arch bits (rust hasn't broken through the paintwork...yet)

At the risk of being flamed mercilessly.....

My non mercs (haven't bought mine yet),

1998 Honda Accord 5 years 140k miles no faults at all (1998 - 2003)
2004 Honda CR-V 4 years 87k miles no faults (2004-2008)
2008 Honda Accord 58k miles no faults (2008-present)

You may spot a theme with the above cars, restrictive choice by my company but for reliability I haven't had a single fault in 13 years of driving Honda's.

Saying that, I'm still going to get rid of the company car and get a Merc :)

SLK - nothing
CLK - nothing
124 - electric headrest adjustment does not work, otherwise everything works 100%

E350 D6 Cab December 2010:

1. Coolant pump problem due to samcat sensor issue
2. Parking sensors going mental beause of samcat sensor
3. Gearbox clunking in between moving from D to R due to software
4. Hesitation on gearbox, big delay on moving off when in R
5. Dash pod rattles like mad
6. Brushed aluminium trim on tonneau cover started to corrode
7. Various roof mechanism sensors & switches failed
8. Wind deflector unbolted itself
9. Not really an issue with the car as such but MB damaged two of my alloys so they're in the process of being repaired

All issues except 5 and 9 fixed, not bad for a brand new car....!

GL350 CDI January 2010:

1. Rusting wheel bolts, replaced twice.
2. Rusting brake calipers, replaced.
3. Corroded roof rails, replaced.

All resolved no further issues.
