Looking at changing provider, but not sure what capacity I need.

Roughly how much data does an xbox live download/upload per hour?

Thanks

I used to have a 2MB connection and my sons XBOX would often momentarily freeze "in action".
I now have now changed ISP and upgraded to 8MB and now it never freezes.
I also opted for the unlimited download package. More expensive but I dont want to have to keep looking over my shoulder or feel restricted in my broadband use.

I dont know if that helps.

BTW...........Dont even think of Virgin Media. They are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Did you know that skys top broadband is unlimited - and I mean unlimited no fair useage clauses it is completley unlimited.

CoD4 runs at about 40MB (up and down)/hour on XBox live - slightly more if you end up hosting although XBox live dynamically selects the player with the best bandwidth and least latency to host.

Ideally you want to allow a minimum overhead of 300-400kbps upload on top of any other Internet usage to allow for uninterrupted play.

Sky have been forced to abandon their "fair use" get out and hopefully other ISPs will go along the same lines. On "fair use" contracts don't expect to be hassled by your provider if you are below 60GB monthly total.
