Can anyone recommend an insurance company that will cover for trade as well as modified performance cars on the same policy?

EDIT: probably should have started a new thread sorry!

C63 W204 + E220d W213 on a dual-car policy with Admiral = £444.22 :cool:
Breaks down as:
E220d = £278.07
C63 = £166.15

£171 with Aviva for a 2016 C200 W205 insured in my wife's name (full NCD) with me as a named driver.

£152 with Privilege for a 2012 Ford Fiesta 1.2 Style (the basic 60PS version!) insured in my name, with my wife as a named driver (saved me £35 just having her on the policy). I'm an ex-company car driver, but have 10+ years of claim free motoring confirmed by HR, so they gave me NCD effectively. It's going to cost my 23 year old son about £700 to insure it now he has passed his test, even with me and his Mum on the policy, but I guess it would have been worse if he'd taken his test when he was younger.

£120 on a Classic car policy for a 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2 agreed value of £25k. Limited to 2k miles a year, though I doubt I'll be driving it far this year anyway unless I actually get on with restoring it.

£170 for me & SWMBO with 7 yrs. NCB on the CLS. She paid £230 for her & me on her ickle Toyota IQ 1.0 with 2 yrs. NCB.

Blimey. That’s good for the C 63.

My mate Dave insured an ML 63 for £115 with business use in 2019-20 but got £30 back due to lock down, which I thought was ridiculously good value, but £166 for a C 63 in 2022 seems like an absolute bargain! I can imagine the risk profile is quite different despite having an engine in common.

Some very cheap prices for various 63 models on here......makes me hopeful when I get my next car. My Alfa 159 2.0 JTDm is not a lot less than some of you are paying for a 63 (apparently ALFA are loaded due to many parts not being available in the event of an accident........not sure how true that is though!).....and I have NCB since 1987!.....(I also have NCD going back to 1985 for motorcycles.....I bet not many can say that!! What pushed my policy up a little bit (£50) is my wife (named driver) have it bit of an SLK/deer interface situation a few years back.....her protected NCD only affects her policy of course. I volunteered to take her off my car as she's NEVER driven my ALFA.....but taking her off would have pushed my premium UP a bit....having a woman on the policy brings it down a bit apparently!!!

Only just seen this thread - given my renewal is due this month I thought i'd share the love:

2017 C63S - Comprehensive (SDP+Business) 12k miles per annum (2k business)
> 10 years NCD
2 drivers
£606 with Churchill

The renewal price I was sent actually matches (within £4) the price of the best quote on comparethemarket.com, which happens to also be Churchill. I might add that this is the first time 28 years (my entire driving career) that this has ever happened. Normally I prepare myself for the 'dance' and the inevitable moving of providers because the incumbent wants to increase the price by at least £100 per year.

That seems quite high to me....at least compared to what I was recently quoted on an E63 (are they in a higher group?). If you don't mind me asking....how old are you?

Lets put it like this, he went to school with Noah.

To me it isn't bad. I'm 46 next month - I can tell you now, it'll be my postcode that counts against me - I live in urban Derbyshire (but with a Nottinghamshire postcode)....i've no doubt in my mind it would be much lower if I lived rurally.

E400, Xtrail, Corsa1.2 (23 yr old driving) Corsa 1.4 (18 yr old driving tpft) and the 4 bed house (buildings and contents plus some w/w AR) all either Comp with excesses under £250 or top tier household cover for a little under £140 a month with Admiral.

And they've been good on a claim I had to put in on my dad's bungalow (near £4k drain claim)

I do buy insurance for a living, but it was important to talk to a UK renewal handler and let them do their thing to retain the business.....

My renewal with aviva was increased by about 50% to £763 for no apparent reason so I did another quote via price comparison site and went with a different company at £480 which came with more add ons! So happy days

As per my post further up, just putting my wife on the Fiesta (we bought for my son) reduced it by £35 with just us two retirees on the policy in my name. Turns out it was a good move because she's used the Fiesta a few times lately; today she needed to go out and I had plans too, so I got to drive the C200 with the air con since she wasn't going far in the Fiesta that doesn't. :)

Now that he has passed his test, he has insured it himself, with both of us on the policy too so we can borrow it (or I can road test it when something inevitably needs fixing). It was slightly less that I'd said above at just under £650 a year for a 1.2 Fiesta Style. He is 23 but just passed his test. It'll have a 'black box' soon though, so we will have to be careful when we drive it so that he doesn't get penalised for any of our bad driving habits...

My sons neighbour paid about £100 more than he could of on his old 1.0 Focus....just to get a policy that avoids having to have the black box....I don't blame him to be honest. He also did not bother learning to drive until his early 20s....seems to be a thing now. He also said it was more likely to be his parents getting him on trouble than his driving!!! LOL!

2017 C200 AMG Line Premium Fully Comp, £285 last year. Just up for renewal in the next few weeks. Moving to Norwich which will be higher than Suffolk where we are now :rolleyes:

Wish mine was £600

I pay £1200 but London postcode and have had a car stolen back in august 19.. full no claims bonus hopefully this December will drop the claim in august 19 will be more than 3 years old

That's good....car theft is usually affects your NCD (stays on your record for other insurance companies to see too) for five years. No protected NCD???
