.......it would cost to get a new head gasket fitted with all the ancillary bits and bobs? Head skim etc.?
Am I correct in assuming that only a mb specialist can do it as you need special tools?

My guess depending on whats required anything from £500 to £1000. Any experienced engine rebuilder should be able to handle it but an MB specialist will know all the snags/weak spots and may well be cheaper in the long run. Ask for a reasonable warranty for the work say 6 months/ 5,000 miles. No guarantee you will get it but worth asking?

E200K, Hmmm thinking, 111 engine, 4 pots, 8 hours labour. Gasket set at £124 (inc of valve stem oil seals etc) Oils, filter. Should work out at about £700 give or take.
