I've been after some parts for my 190e for a while now(auto selecter gate and plastic suround) so when i saw one being broken for spares on ebay i enquired how much it would be for the bits i needed. £25 was the reply!!!! So i thought id compare the price with the stealership to see how much more they would be.............

Well i could not beleive my ears when the parts man told me they were only £8!!!!!!!! And that was after VAT!!!!!!

Now how on earth can some idiot try and charge £25 for the same bits second hand?????!!!??!?!?!?!?!??

Ebay madnes!!!!!! The thing is, someone will proberbly pay the idiot what he's asking

And the lesern learned today is, Dont be such a skinflint and check out the dealers prices first :p

Stu. :)

Sooooo true, they are not always $tealers ;)

I've always said check the Dealer for prices first !!

I've had some good prices for stuff from the Dealer

£2.50 - Oil Filler Cap
£32 - 4 Mud Flaps
£20ish 3 Aluminium Pedals

I was quoted £120 & £100 by 2 Independents for a Job,when the Dealer done it for £54.

The most common one that I have heard of is the Bonnet Star, they go for silly prices on e-bay but a cheap at the "dealers"...guess its not fair to call them the stealership in this instance.

Snap... well about £28
not bad for MB original

Everyone simply assumes the stealership will cost more, the only thing you can guarantee will cost more from the stealership is labour, practically everything else they are very competitive on.

I agree here.

I buy all my bits from the dealer as they are generally the cheapest. They usually beat ECP and are genuine parts not copies.

I bought a rear brake light bulb for £0.62 from the MB $tealership on the Isle of Dogs. I had got out a fiver to pay and then had to turn my pockets out for small change. Without a doubt its the smallest invoice I've ever had!

Are MB the cheapest for a pair of Aerotwin wiper blades? £39.50.
(These are the new style blades on new models)

I just looked the blades up, according to the DC online parts website they're 26.89 Euro each, that works out as £17.74, but you can add about 10% onto that due to the exchange rates when the prices were converted to pounds by DC UK. In other words, they're prolly about £39.50, assuming you don't get any discount.

Do you know if you can get aerotwin blades as an aftermarket upgrade for a 2001 SLK?
Do you have to buy new arms as well or just the blades?
PS What's the web address for DC Online?

Went to GSF yesterday, and after I'd paid for my order, I remembered that I needed a brake light bulb - the guy gave it to me!!. Great customer service!!

My dealer reluctantly gives me a coffee - maybe that's becuase they think of me as being a member of staff, given I'm there so often!!
