How rare is a W107 manual gearbox?

My wife would like a W107 (I got to choose the last car), but would much prefer a manual. Theres a manual 350 SL on E-bay for spares, current bid £820.

So my question is how rare is the manual gearbox?

Is it rare enough to warrant buying the car on e-bay just for the gearbox?

VERY! but remember the value of your car will halve.. you would have to swap it back when selling. And swapping involves a lot more than just the box... Pedals, wiring, vac pipes etc etc etc
