How safe is a 23 year old spare tire?

WTF does that have to do with a tyre? :dk:

You mean you don't use 10mm thick reinforced, vulcanised rubber, treaded durex.
Taking things close to the edge there, Neil.

Is it a winter tyre, specially designed to cope with the wet?

Would you use a 23 year old Durex, been in wallet, not exposed to sunlight. I dont think so!

Both made of Rubber and life changing if they fail !

Ok the tyre is thicker and reinforced but would have more horsepower going through it.

I can understand why some would want to keep it for 'originality' sake, it's often a 'selling' point with classic cars. However, whether it's actually a good idea is another issue.

If it was mine, I'd change it, but keep it if you envisage selling the car on in future and value the originality factor.
