Welcome to the forum! :)

What car do you have?

Presumably you are installing the sub in the boot? There will be a rear SAM and fuse unit closer. Check for a free fuseway and use that.

A number of members have fitted subs and I'm sure will be along soon with more detailed info

:) thanks so much! that would actualy be perfect!

hi and welcome to the forum, can i just ask what are you looking to achieve? is it just to add some extra bass, that you have now loss as the current sub has blown!

There are many different routes you can go down when you get into installing amp/subs

hi and thanks for the warm welcome.

yes - just that! being as i already have the parts ..amp + sub + many cables i guess it seemed to be the simplest way?

ok, is the sub already in a box?

let us know what parts and as much info as you can, and we can see what can be done to help you out.

you will need to look and place in the boot the items you need to have in there eg: sub(in box) and amp so you can get a idea of area they will take up.

ok here goes...

12" sub in box, amp ( attatched to sub box ) remote switched to power also attatched to box.

high pass to low adaptor - will allow me to use the speaker cables for the oem sub and give me rca for my amp. and last but not least...meters and meters of power cables.

i have done a dummy run with them in the boot and they fit fine.

thanks again for the help

kk, well seem like you just need to run a power cable to the amp.

guessing the battery is under the bonnet on a w203, then you will need to find an entry point of other cable going in through the car bulkhead, so you can feed in the new power cable for the amp (remember tho, it will need to be fused at both ends!).

How about using the rear SAM, there should be a free fuseway there? MB provide a couple of fuseways for accessories (at least in mine)

yes that is also an option, not 100% sure if it can take the amount of draw the amp would create.

** what amp is it that you have??? and can you tell me what fuses it has in it please ***

ok noob question here - i have taken off the boot liner and have found a fuse box looking unit, Q (1) is this the SAM ? Q(2) how would i connect a wire to it?

its a kenwood amp - can confirm the model if needed , i believe its around 1k watts -ish and yes it has a 40amp built in.

model number would be good :)

Yes, that sounds like it. You would need a plug from MB pushes in the rear and the fuse goes in the front

plug? any chance of a pic link to show me what i need? please.....:thumb:

Soz, nothing to hand. The plug, probably more correctly, a terminal connector, readily available from MB should only be a few pence. I see the max fuse shown is 40A if that is enough?
