Motor insurance was always expensive in the past because there was not much choice in the market and premiums were regulated by the Motor Insurers Bureau . It's much cheaper now in relative terms due to the massive influx of competition in the market.

IT has transformed the ability to quote and process enquiries and orders. Tech manages the whole cycle which was previously done on your high st by birds who had left school at 15 or 16, who looked in large ring binders, filled in forms, and posted off the paperwork.

The tech has made it all far faster, cheaper and more nuanced.

I was refused a job at the library after telling them that I was non-bindery.
That's a novel excuse. 😁

The real reason was that I didn't like my new job title.
So you've started a new chapter in your life now?
Turned over a new leaf so to speak?

Yes. I use to be a soldier but I got fed up of running from cover to cover.

I've made a full recovery, which speaks volumes of the NHS.

I've recently been to Peter Best/Hiscox to insure my 1984 230E. Premium was ok but they posed all manner of questions & requirements. They picked up that it hasn't got an MOT but never asked or apparently discovered that it is SORN so not being driven at all! Then they wanted a picture of it in my garage (it's not in my garage but someone else's) and a picture of the garage that also shows my house! At that point I gave up and cancelled. I'm going to try Classic Line now. These insurers should surely realise that classic car owners are a weird bunch, true, but one thing for sure, we look after our vehicles!

Try Chris Knott insurance.
Howdens (used to be called A-Plan).
Tesco
Post Office.

Get an older, ‘experienced’ driver added on as a named driver. That can help.

Maybe talk to the family to get something like admiral multi car policy?
